After the briefest of Christmas breaks, the PDC World Championship will resume on December 27 with some cracking third-round matches. The pick of those contests could be the match-up between darts’ ground-breaker Fallon Sherrock and the number 22 seed Chris Dobey.

Following on from her historic defeat of Ted Evetts in round one, Sherrock stepped up another gear to beat 11th seed Mensur Suljovic 3-1 in round two. The fact that the 25-year-old from Milton Keynes came from behind in both the first and third sets shows that the newly-dubbed ‘Queen Of Alexandra Palace’ lacks nothing in confidence. She’s riding the crest of a wave and everyone in the place will be will her on against her next opponent – but will it be a bridge too far?

Dobey recorded his best-even performance in a ranking event when reaching the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix earlier this year. He reached the last 16 at Ally Pally last year before losing a close-fought match with Gary Anderson and will believe the draw has opened up for him to better that effort this time.

Fallon Sherrock vs Chris Dobey Predictions

Fallon Sherrock will not have dreamed that she could go as far as she has in the World Championship, let alone become the darling of the Ally Pally crowd.
But she’s shown herself to be a very good darts player with a cool head and a steely determination to show there is no reason why women can’t compete with men on the big stage.
From this stage, the matches are the best-of-seven sets and this may suit Dobey more than his opponent. Chris Dobey to win 4-1 in Correct Score is 11/4 with Betfred. Under 5.5 Total sets is a general 4/6.
