As we are all aware, football is all about scoring goals. When these goals are scored can often have quite psychological effect on the opposition. We’ve all seen how a goal scored in the last minute of the first half can have a disastrous effect on a team’s moral. So as we approach a most critical period of the season, The Run-in, to the title I’ve had a look at when teams turn on the scoring style. There can be a few surprises in these stats.

I’ve looked at how the teams score in each half of their games. Would you believe that a relegation favourite has the best record for scoring more second half goals than in the first half of it’s matches. It doesn’t appear to amount to much but if you have a bet concerning second half goals running, these stats will give you a little bit of extra knowledge at your disposal.

These figures give the number of games in which a team had produced the returns. e.g. Liverpool have scored more goals in the first half of their matches than in the second half of the those games.

All stats from the Premiership, prior to Saturday 29th March.

Once again, bare stats don’t really make good reading but the inference behind them can have a big influence on some betting outcomes. For a start Fulham are, to my thinking, a team to swerve when playing away. Especially if backing Correct Scores. Add the fact that at the present moment they need to get their finger out, their habit of scoring in the second-half of matches could just throw a spanner in some works. Another team to be cautious about would be Swansea when playing at home. Their habit of scoring after half-time could well short circuit a few UNDER 2.5 bets. Then again I may be preaching to the converted but for any novice these stats will come in useful, I’m sure.

It will almost certainly pay to be aware which teams regularly find the net during the second-half. Especially those in the lower reaches of the league tables. These are the sides which often cause the upsets and ruin fixed odds coupons. I know as I’ve seen it happen many times in the past.

Don’t forget, the way to profit is STUDY and then even more STUDY. STUDY IS HARD WORK. As Arnie Palmer once stated, “The harder I work, the luckier I get”. Nuff said.
