French to edge South Americans

France v Peru- World Cup 2018

France v Peru Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 21st June – 4.00 p.m
(Full time: 1:0 – goals: Mbappe 34′)

France failed to impress in their opening fixture as they managed, with the help of VAR to get a late win over Australia. It wasn’t three points that they deserved on the whole though but they have a chance to drive home another three points and make their way to the knockout phase as they face Peru. Peru was unlucky to not get a point against Denmark in their opening game and in our France v Peru predictions we can’t see them doing enough to get a win that would put them back in qualification contention.

France News and Form

There have to be more gears from France that they go through if they are going to end being up a major contender at these championships. They looked very flat and average as they struggled to land a 2-1 win over Australia in their opening fixture in Group C. A late speculative shot from Paul Pogba which just about crossed the line (confirmed by VAR) gave France an unimpressive three points and it will be interesting to see what mentality and character they come out with in this one. This isn’t likely to be a comfortable game for France and a France to win by a 1 goal margin in this one is at 5/2 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.). Of the two nations here obviously, France are the ones blessed with a greater array of talent and Antoine Griezmann is the 4/1 first goalscorer favourite* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.) for the fixture. The French forward line could use better support than they got in their opening game.

France have remained unbeaten in their last six games with wins in five of them, so you can’t fault them from that persepective. But that dodgy display against Australia which followed a struggle in 1-1 friendly draw against the USA will just have raised some doubts about Les Blues. France have one clean sheet in their last six and as they are facing a competitive Peru side, both teams to score at bet365 is a 19/20 odds option* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.). Those odds point to clear weaknesses in France’s back line. Will the South Americans get under their skin? In terms of the group, three points would see them sitting pretty ahead of their final showdown against Denmark in last round of group stage matches. There has to be a lot better to come from the French though.

Peru News and Form

The South Americans produced a good display in taking on Denmark in their opening World Cup 2018 match, but ultimately they fell to a 1-0 defeat, heartbreakingly missing a penalty in the game. They did carve out some good chances and looked quick and direct when they got the break so it will be interesting to see if they catch France cold. Peru are actually in good form having gone W3 D1 L1 in their last five games and after being so shockingly poor defensively in their World Cup Qualifying campaign, they have really tightened up. They have shipped only two goals in their last five games so they are rolling along very nicely at the moment and that is another indicator that they could frustrate the French if Les Bleus start struggling for momentum again. For our France v Peru predictions we are looking at under 2.5 goals at 17/20 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on June 18th, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.). Unfortunately for Peru because they did end up losing their opener, it is they who are playing catch up and at some point have to go for three points. They need a famous World Cup upset to happen here or else they will be heading home.

France v Peru Predictions

Tough game for Peru who impressed against Denmark and totally deserved a point out of that match. France wasn’t good at all against Australia but for our France v Peru predictions were are going to back Les Bleus to find a way to edge themselves to another win, but only by a one-goal margin.
