France bulldozed their way into the Round of 16, winning all three of their group matches to go through at a canter. The French got the tournament up and running with a convincing 4-0 win over South Korea at the Parc des Princes.

Team USA then made it nine points out of nine with a 2-0 victory over Sweden in Le Havre.
The States dominated in the group stage, but they did not have it all their own way in their Round of 16 tie with Spain. La Roja pushed them close in Reims, but USWNT rallied to a 2-1 win thanks to two Megan Rapinoe penalties.
