Southampton are the hunt for a new manager after having parted company with Claude Puel after just one season in charge. The Saints got to the League Cup Final under his management and they landed a top ten finish in the Premier League as well. But that didn’t tell the whole story because it was by and large, a season of disappointments.
Down the final stretch of the Premier League season, they only managed to win one of their last eight games and only netted one goal in total in their last six games of the season. There is clearly better that could be gotten out of the club and now Southampton are looking in a new direction.
Puel’s departure is the third Southampton managed to go in the last three years, with Mauricio Pochettino going to Spurs and Ronald Koeman going to Everton. Thomas Tuchel has already ruled himself out of the race as the former Borussia Dortmund manager not interested in a journey to St Mary’s.
