Frank Lampard is the new 11/10 favourite in the Next Premier League Manager to go market* (betting odds recorded from Paddy Power at 04:35 GMT on Monday, 4th January 2021).

After a fantastic 17-match unbeaten streak, it’s all been downhill for his Chelsea side since.

After a tame 3-1 home defeat against Manchester City on the weekend, the Blues continue to slide.

The result leaves Chelsea with only one victory in their last seven matches across all competitions.

More to the point, there have been four defeats in their last six matches now (D1 L1).

Pressure rising on Lampard in sack race

But it is on the domestic front that the biggest pressure is rising. Chelsea are W1 D1 L4 and that has seen their title ambitions get hit hard.

So now Lampard, who had over £200m of transfers in the summer including the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner is feeling the heat at Stamford Bridge.

The lack of form from the German duo Havertz and Werner (who is now without a goal in 12 games) highlights the problems the Blues have.

Performance levels have been dropping from Chelsea and now the big question, is whether or not Lampard is running out of time at the Bridge?

Is Abramovich ready to ring the changes?

Club owner Roman Abramovich hasn’t been afraid to wield the managerial axe before when things have not been going the club’s way.

After a big summer of investment, that just ramps up the pressure on the current non-performing boss.

How patient will Abramovich be?

Chelsea have drifted to a 6/5 quote to secure a top-four finish this season* (betting odds recorded from Paddy Power at 04:35 GMT on Monday, 4th January 2021).

That was something they achieved last season under Lampard, who was rewarded with that big war chest of spending money.

Tuchel’s sacking livens things up

What makes things interesting is the recent managerial shift that happened at PSG.

Tomas Tuchel got the sack to be replaced by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Tuchel, who won the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and the Ligue 1 title with PSG in the last two seasons, could make an appealing proposition for the Blues.

Could the German be the one to revitalize the Blues?

Wilder still under pressure at Sheffield United

Such is the pressure on Lampard now, that he has been cut into a shorter quote than Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder to be the next boss in the top flight to get the push.

Wilder still has not managed to pull a league win out of his Blades side this season. They lost to Crystal Palace in their latest effort.

It’s been a shocking two points only that Sheffield United have earned this season.

Not too surprisingly, they remain the red-hot relegation favourites.

They haven’t put a goal on the board in any of their last three league fixtures either.

Sheffield United also have a tough run of games coming up, facing four of the Big Six in their next six league games.

The only other man in single figures is Mikel Arteta, who has been on the drift a little after guiding Arsenal to three straight league wins.

The Arsenal boss was under huge pressure before they sparked a revival with a league success over Chelsea on Boxing Day.

Arteta is now a 9/1 quote* (betting odds recorded from Paddy Power at 04:35 GMT on Monday, 4th January 2021).
