Freiburg vs Bayern Munich Betting Tips – Bundesliga, 18th December 19.30pm

Bayern Munich travel to the Schwarzwald-Stadion to play Freiburg on Wednesday having lost three of their last six in the Bundesliga. The German champions have been a shadow of their former selves this season, but the Bavarians head to southwest Germany as the big favourites in this one. Can Hans-Dieter Flick’s men pick up a precious three points on the road in midweek?

Freiburg News and Form – Can the hosts shock the champions?

Christian Streich’s Freiburg finished in a respectable 13th place in the Bundesliga last term, collecting 36 points along the way. Streich, who has been at the club since 2011, has guided his team to seven wins from 15 games this season. Freiburg are nicely placed in sixth spot at the moment, taking 25 points.

Freiburg’s form has slumped a little in the last few weeks, as the club have taken just four points from the last 12 on offer, winning one, drawing one and losing two. Last weekend, they were beaten 1-0 by Hertha Berlin in the capital.

Streich’s men have been very strong at the Schwarzwald-Stadion so far, with only Cologne winning on their patch in league action. Freiburg have won three of their last four on home turf, seeing off Red Bull Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. Can the hosts cause a big upset against the mighty Bayern Munich on Wednesday night?

Bayern Munich News and Form – Will the out-of-sorts Bavarians get back to winning ways on the road?

Bayern Munich have been nowhere near their blistering best this season. FC Hollywood have already been beaten four times this term, winning just eight of 15. As a result, Bayern are a whopping six points behind leaders Leipzig.

Munich recently lost two in a row. After a shock home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern were beaten by in-form Borussia Monchengladbach. However, they hit back with an emphatic victory over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena last time out. A hat-trick from Philippe Coutinho, a brace by Robert Lewandowski and a Thomas Muller goal gave them a resounding and much-needed 6-1 win.

Bayern have lost two of their last four away from home in the Bundesliga, winning only three of seven away league fixtures all season. Nonetheless, Hans-Dieter Flick’s side head to Freiburg im Breisgau as the strong favourites to get the win on Wednesday.

Freiburg vs Bayern Munich Predictions

Bayern Munich win: The Reds have made an uncharacteristically slow start to their season. Bayern are down in fifth place at the moment, taking just 27 points from 15 games, which is poor going by their high standards.

Freiburg will go above the Bavarians with a home win on Wednesday. Streich’s side are not an easy nut to crack on home turf, losing only once on their patch in league action. However, even without being at their best, Bayern are a dangerous side.

The champions will be buoyed after their big win over Werder Bremen last time out. With that in mind, I can see them winning this one. Bayern are available at 1/2 to win -1. Also, I’m backing the away team to be winning at half time and full time, which you can get at the decent odds of 4/7.
