Cottagers to seal a third win on the spin

Fulham v Charlton Athletic Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 5th October 12.30pm

Scott Parker’s Fulham and Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic square off in a London derby in the EFL Championship in Saturday’s early kick off. The Cottagers go into this weekend’s clash at Craven Cottage fresh off the back of a stunning away win at Reading in midweek. Meanwhile, the Addicks were beaten by Swansea City at The Valley. As expected, Parker’s Whites are the strong favourites in this one, but can Charlton cause an upset at the Cottage?

Fulham News and Form – Cottagers to make it three wins in a row?

Fulham go into this one unbeaten in five in the Championship. After three successive 1-1 draws with Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday, the Cottagers have picked up two wins within the last week.

Last weekend, Scott Parker’s boys cruised to a 2-0 home win over Wigan Athletic. The London side had almost 60% possession, as second-half goals from Joe Bryan and Tom Cairney were enough to give them the points.

Fulham followed that up with a stunning victory at Reading in midweek. The Whites ran riot at the Madejski Stadium, with Cairney and Aleksandar Mitrovic scoring two each in the big 4-1 win over the Royals. John Swift was sent off after 20 minutes for the hosts, while Yakou Meite netted an 89th-minute consolation goal.

Fulham have moved up to fifth place after two wins in a week. The London outfit have taken 18 points from ten games, and they find themselves just three points behind league leaders Swansea City. Can they add another three points to their tally at the weekend?

Charlton Athletic News and Form – Tough day at the office for the Addicks?

Considering that Lee Bowyer’s men were plying their trade in the third tier last term, Charlton Athletic have made a very good start to their season. The Addicks have won half of their ten league matches, drawing two and losing three of the other five.

However, after winning four and drawing two of their opening six, the Addicks have had a little slump in form in recent weeks, losing three of their past four. However, during that run, Athletic beat Championship title favourites Leeds United 1-0 at The Valley.

Unfortunately for Bowyer’s boys, Charlton failed to follow up last weekend’s victory over Leeds with another win on Wednesday, as they were beaten by Steve Cooper’s Swansea on home soil. The Addicks put up a brave fight, but an Andre Ayew goal in the 65th minute gave the Swans a 2-1 win.

The step up to the Championship is difficult for most teams, but Charlton have certainly coped well so far. Last season’s EFL League One play-off winners will leapfrog Fulham with a win at Craven Cottage, but Bowyer and his side would surely take a point before a ball has been kicked.

Fulham v Charlton Athletic Predictions

Fulham win: The Cottagers have been tipped by many to make an instant return to the Premier League. Although they have not been at their blistering best at all times this season, Fulham are slowly but surely building some momentum. Victory on Saturday will be their third win in a row and a sixth success in 11 Championship games.

Charlton have showed what they are made of so far this season, beating the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, Brentford, Reading and Leeds. However, this could be a tough day at the office for Bowyer’s men.

I fancy Fulham to win by a margin at the weekend. Check out bet365’s tempting price of 11/4 for the hosts to win -2. Parker would have been disappointed with Reading’s late goal in midweek. Therefore, the Cottagers will be after a clean sheet in this one. Put a few quid on the Whites to win 3-0 at 17/2.
