Fulham v Millwall Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 21st August 19.45pm

London rivals Fulham and Millwall do battle at Craven Cottage in an EFL Championship fixture on Wednesday night. Scott Parker’s boys have responded well from their opening weekend defeat, going on to win their following two. The Lions, meanwhile, have been the surprise package so far, picking up seven points from a possible nine. With the Cottagers being at home, Fulham will back themselves to make it three wins in a row. However, in-form Millwall could have something to say about that.

Fulham News and Form – Three wins in a row for the Cottagers?

Fulham lost their opening game of the season, with Luke Thomas scoring early to give Barnsley a 1-0 win at Oakwell. However, the Cottagers have hit back with back-to-back wins over Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town.

It was tight matchup at the John Smith’s Stadium last Friday night, but goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ivan Cavaleiro were enough to give the Whites a deserved 2-1 victory over the Terriers.

Overall, Fulham were the worst away side in the Premier League last season, claiming a mere five points on the road. Meanwhile, the London outfit picked up just 21 home points, with only Crystal Palace, Cardiff City (both 20) and Huddersfield (nine) claiming fewer.

Parker’s side now have three league and cup games on the spin at Craven Cottage. After hosting Millwall on Tuesday, Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest visit west London at the weekend. Fulham have a chance to put some big points on the board before their tough trip to Cardiff at the end of the month.

Millwall News and Form – Can the Lions avoid a first defeat?

Millwall had a season to forget last time around, finishing just four points above the drop zone in 21st place. The Lions won seven times at The Den, while only Wigan Athletic, Rotherham United and Ipswich Town (all with 11) picked up fewer away points (14).

However, Millwall look keen to make amends this season, and they have stared their campaign in terrific fashion. Harris’ troops picked up a 1-0 home win over Preston North End on the opening weekend, with Jed Wallace scoring the only goal of the game. They then battled to a 1-1 away draw at West Bromwich Albion. A few days later, Millwall beat the Baggies at The Hawthorns in the EFL Cup.

The Lions welcomed league leaders Sheffield Wednesday to The Den last Saturday. The Owls had started their season with back-to-back wins, but Millwall edged a tight matchup in the capital. Matt Smith scored the only goal shortly before half time to give the Londoners a 1-0 victory.

Smith has started his Millwall career in fine fettle. The former Leeds United and Fulham man has scored in each of his last two games, helping the Lions to four points.

This will undoubtedly be a tough test for Millwall. However, after making such a solid start to their season, Harris and his team will fancy their chances of picking up a positive result at the Cottage.

Fulham v Millwall Predictions

Fulham win: Millwall, who have made a stunning start to the season, would love to extend their unbeaten run to five league and cup games with a positive result at Craven Cottage in midweek. Unfortunately for them, Fulham are starting to find their rhythm under Parker, and the Cottagers should cruise to all three points in this one. With that in mind, back Fulham to win -1 at 13/8.

Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has been tipped by many to win the Championship Golden Boot this season. The Serbia international scored goals for fun in the second tier during the Cottagers’ promotion-winning campaign a couple of years ago, and the 24-year-old has kicked off this season with two goals in three games. Mitrovic is available at 3/1 to score the opener on Wednesday.
