Cottagers to edge past Baggies

Fulham v West Bromwich Albion Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 14th September 12.30pm

The standout clash in the EFL Championship this weekend comes from Craven Cottage, as Scott Parker’s Fulham and Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion lock horns on Saturday. These two are among the big hitters in the second tier, and both clubs have aspirations of gaining promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season. With this one taking place at the Cottage, the Cottagers are the favourites for the win at 21/20, with the Baggies available at 13/5.

Fulham News and Form – Cottagers back to winning ways this Saturday?

Fulham started life back in the Championship with a disappointing defeat at Oakwell, losing 1-0 to newly promoted Barnsley. However, the Cottagers responded with three wins in a row, beating Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield Town and Millwall, scoring eight and shipping just one in the process.

Since then, though, Scott Parker’s men have failed to win any of their last three in all competitions. In their last league home game, the Whites fell to a somewhat shock 2-1 loss to Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest, which they followed up with another 1-0 loss to Premier League Southampton at Craven Cottage in the EFL Cup.

Before the first international break of the season, Fulham drew with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City in South Wales. The Londoners fell behind at the Cardiff City Stadium, but the prolific Aleksandar Mitrovic quickly levelled things up in the eventual 1-1 draw.

Mitrovic is the current favourite to finish up as the Championship’s top scorer this season, and the forward has made an outstanding start to his campaign. So far, the Serbia international has scored eight times in eight games for club and country.

After picking up just one point from their last two since winning three in a row, Parker’s side will be eager to return to winning ways on Saturday.

West Bromwich Albion News and Form – Can Bilic’s boys extend their undefeated run?

West Bromwich Albion remain unbeaten in the league under Slaven Bilic. The Baggies have won three and drawn three, sitting in fourth place in the table after six matches. Last season, Albion finished in fourth before losing in the play-off semi-finals to Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

West Brom have been far from brilliant at The Hawthorns so far this season, winning only one of four league and cup matches on home turf. On the road, though, the Baggies have won two and drawn one of three, beating Nottingham Forest and Luton Town (both 2-1) and drawing 1-1 with Derby County at Pride Park.

At the time of writing, West Brom are the third favourites behind Leeds United and Fulham to win the Championship title, with the bookies pricing them at 9/1. Those odds will certainly shorten if the Baggies can win at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Bilic has settled into his new surroundings with real aplomb, and West Brom will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship this season. Can the Midlands side claim a priceless three points at Fulham this weekend?

Fulham v West Bromwich Albion Predictions

Fulham win: The Cottagers, who arguably have the strongest squad in the Championship this term, have played some scintillating stuff so far. Having dropped out of the Premier League at the first time of asking, Fulham will be looking for an instant return to England’s top tier. The Londoners would send out a real signal of intent to their title rivals with three points on Saturday. Back the home team to win at 21/20.

West Brom were one of the highest scorers in the Championship last season, netting an incredible 87 times. The Baggies have already scored ten league goals this term, and they should find the net in the capital this weekend. With that in mind, I’m putting some money on both teams to score at 8/15.
