Tunisia booked passage to the round of sixteen without even managing to record a victory from their three games. They won’t care about that now. But they do get to take on a strong challenger in this one as they face up to Ghana. Ghana did win their group, but only on a narrow head to head over Cameroon. Ghana News and Form

Ghana were held to a 2-2 against Benin in their opening group stage. They could only manage a point in their second game against Cameroon. So that left Ghana needing to hussle in their third and final group stage match. Ghana took a 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in their final game to give them top spot, because of Cameroon failing to get a win over Benin in their last game. So it was a tight, exciting finish. Jordan Ayew is Ghana’s top scorer at the tournament with two goals in three games.

Penalty In Match – YES

After that battle in the group stage, the Black Stars have not received the most comfortable of knockout ties here. But their record in recent Africa Cup of Nations tournaments has been good. They have finished in the top four in each of the last six editions now, but despite those strong campaigns, they couldn’t get their hands on the title in any of them. Ghana have won the AFCON title four times in their history, their last one in 1982. It has been one defeat in their last eight (W4 D3) and they have earned three clean sheets in their last four games played now.

Tunisia News and Form

Tunisia will have been a little disappointed with their group stage campaign, despite obviously getting to the knockout. They could only manage three draws from their three group stage game. Their first two against Angola and Mali were 1-1 draws, while they could only close out with a really disappointing 0-0 draw against Mauritania. So it’s hard to gauge them a little bit because they should be stronger than that. Tunisia have made it through to the quarterfinals in three of their last four Africa Cup of Nations appearances though.

Taking a look at their current form, it does suggest that they are going to be tough to beat. They have strung together a six-match undefeated streak and have suffered one loss in their last eight. Tunisia have taken a W7 D3 L3 record in their last thirteen games. Just one of those three losses were in competitive games though. Tunisia’s 0-0 draw against Mauritania is their only clean sheet in their last five. It also saw them have a five-match scoring streak snapped.

Ghana v Tunisia Predictions

Ghana to win: This is probably going to be a tight knockout fixture. There doesn’t look as if there is going to be too much to separate them. But the Black Stars do look as if they may just have a slight edge in attacking output. Ghana to win.
