Poetic Flare the Even Money FAV in Goodwood Sussex Stakes Racing Odds
Is more success heading the way of POETIC FLARE? He returned to winning ways last time out, commandingly winning the St James’s Palace.
It was a victory taken by more than four lengths, the biggest margin of victory in that race in the last 30 years. That can’t be ignored.
With the 2000 Guineas under his belt as well this season, that’s three wins in his last five runs.
He’s thriving and Poetic Flare is the even-money favourite to win on Wednesday* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
Given what he has already produced this season, he shaping up to be one of the top 1m 3-year-olds around at the moment.
He will have more experienced opposition for the first time in this one. But Poetic Flare looks primed for another big run.
Alcohol Free could have a big say
Andrew Balding’s likeable ALCOHOL FREE will rate as a danger in the Sussex Stakes as well.
She looks to still be firmly heading in the right direction, having won two of her four runs since her reappearance.
The last time that Alcohol Free was seen was in the Falmouth, not being able to get the better of rival Snow Lantern in that one.
Alcohol Free was third in that one and had previously beaten that particular rival in the Group 1 Coronation earlier in the season.
So those two are due for another good scrap.
Arguably Alcohol Free was a little too loose in the Falmouth, hampering her chances. But she will likely be in the mix again.
Alcohol Free retains plenty of interest at 9/2* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral)
Snow Lantern set for another big run
We can’t look at Alcohol Free without considering her rival SNOW LANTERN for the Sussex Stakes.
The daughter of Frankel quickened brilliantly to take the win in the Falmouth last time out. That was a very impressive score.
She heads into Sussex Stakes betting at 9/2* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
The score in the Falmouth was the second win in four runs since reappearance for Snow Lantern. She looks to be getting better in top company.
Interestingly Snow Lantern was diverted from the Nassau to have a crack at this one. She should firmly be in it.
Can C&D winner Tilsit upset the odds
While there is such an exciting crop of youngsters to look at, we look at Tislit who could be the leading pick from the older generation.
The 4-year-old returned to winning ways last time out. That victory came in the Summer Mile at Ascot, getting the better of Century Dream in the contest.
That was another good step forward from him. From a quote of 14/1 in Goodwood Sussex Stakes racing odds, Tilsit is not to be dismissed* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral)..
On his penultimate, he was only narrowly edged out in a Group 1 over in France. Last year at this meeting he scored a course and distance win at Group 3.
There are good place claims there for Tilsit on Wednesday.
Can Order Of Australia stay?
It is likely that the ORDER OF AUSTRALIA is going to have his nose in this for a long time on Wednesday.
He is a tough cookie and the 4-year-old hit from last time out. He made all in landing a Group 2 success at the Curragh 10 days ago.
That was on a 7f trip and shouldn’t be tripped up by the extras distance on offer here.
Last year he claimed the Breeders’ Cup Mile so has form at the distance.
That’s three wins in his last six runs and that recent Group 2 success piques interest.
He’s among stiff company here but Order Of Australia is a 16/1 each-way pick* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
Rest of the runners
CENTURY DREAM is likely to have a lot on his hands at this level. He was runner up to Tilsit in the Summer Mile at Ascot on his latest effort. He also claimed a C&D last year. His form has been steady but may lack that extra punch.
DUHAIL hasn’t been outside the top two in any of his five runs this season. There were a couple of Group 3 runner-up finishes there, plus a score in a Group 2 over in France in May. This is a tough task at this level.
LOPE Y FERNANDEZ opened the season with a win. He was runner up in the Queen Anne on his latest run behind Palace Pier. He’s no forlorn hope with an emphasis on speed likely to happen on Wednesday.
SPACE TRAVELLER claimed a Listed win at York last month in a fairly weak contest. He went in the Summer Mile next and was never in it.
CHINDIT claimed the Greenham on his reappearance. But really hasn’t kicked on since there, having been well-held in his subsequent two and looked twitchy at Ascot on his latest.
Predictions & Tips for Goodwood Sussex Stakes Racing Odds
What a superb lineup there is for the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday in Goodwood racing betting.
There are so many with claims but we have to stick with the highly impressive POETIC FLARE at even money as the main selection* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
Victory here will confirm that there isn’t a better 3-year-old miler around at the moment. That wide-margin win in the St James’s Palace says it all.
TILSIT is not likely to be out of this at all and does pique plenty of interest as a 14/1 each-way selection* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
The Summer Mile win puts him on the map, along with his course and distance success 12 months ago.
Then there are ALCOHOL FREE and SNOW LANTERN, two brilliant 3-year-olds who have gone at it before.
Of them, we just lean towards SNOW LANTERN after an impressive win in the Falmouth on her latest and she’s a 9/2 to take the win* (odds recorded at 22:02 GMT on July 27th, 2021 at Coral).
