We take a look at this year’s current ante-post betting for the Grand National odds 2022 and size up a handful of the runners at the front of the market.

This year’s edition of one of the most famous horse racing spectacles in the world goes on April 9th at Aintree.

Although it’s still early at the ante-post stage, the market has been taking shape nicely and it’s worth looking at the current state of play.

In this Grand National odds preview 2022, we are going to look at the current five who have been attracting some attention.

About the Grand National

The Grand National is run over a distance of approximately 4 miles and 2½ furlongs and there are 30 fences in the contest. It is a couple of laps around the Aintree course that the runners take on.

The Grand National fences are a lot bigger than those used in regular National Hunt horse racing, making the challenge even tougher.

Delta Work 8/1

Since landing the Cross Country Chase at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, gamely just battling past Tiger Roll, Delta Work has piqued further interest in Grand National betting odds.

Delta Work continues to prove that he could be an absolute beast when it comes to tests of stamina.

Given that the Cheltenham Festival run was the first attempt by Delta Work at a huge distance and over unfamiliar obstacles, that could set him up very well for the 2022 Grand National.

Delta Work is a five-time Grade 1 winner and travelled smoothly all the way in the Cross Country Chase.

If he can back up that Cheltenham run then Gordon Elliott’s Delta Work could get heavily involved in the thick of the Grand National action.

Our betting prediction:

Any Second Now 9/1

With some Grand National experience under his belt, Any Second Now is another of the potential big players at this year’s renewal.

He will be looking to build on his third-place finish in last year’s Aintree showpiece.

The only issue this time around for Any Second Now is that he is going to be carrying a lot more weight than he was last year.

But the market support that has been there for Any Second Now in Grand National betting odds 2022, suggests that he has a big chance.

His warm-up for Aintree went successfully as Any Second Now triumphed over Escaria Ten at Fairyhouse in February.

He had conceded 8lb to that rival on the day, but at Aintree for the Grand National 2022, Any Second Now won’t quite be giving away as much as that.

Escaria Ten 10/1

How much will that defeat by Any Second Now at Fairyhouse in February really affect the chances of Escaria Ten at the Grand National?

Regardless of that reverse, Escaria Ten looks like being a big player at Aintree for this big one.

He still ran with plenty of credit at Fairyhouse, finishing ahead of Burrows Saint who is also going in the National.

Gordon Elliott’s Escaria Ten is gradually getting there as a long-distance chaser and warrants plenty of respect to get himself in the frame.

He was a place finish at last year’s National Hunt Challenge Cup Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham.

Escaria Ten receives weight from the aforementioned Delta Work and Any Second Now.

Enjoy D’allen 12/1

After a third-place at last year’s Irish Grand National, there have been positive efforts from Enjoy D’allen this season.

So he looks to have a fair chance of making his presence felt in the Grand National 2022.

This will be the debut at Aintree for Enjoy D’allen and it’s never easy taking on these unusual obstacles for the first time. There is a bit of a learning curve to them.

But still, Enjoy D’Allan showed further promise when he claimed a place finish in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown in December.

The handicapper does look to have been very lenient with him, so it may not be too much of a surprise to get himself involved at Aintree.

Snow Leopardess 12/1

What a story Snow Leopardess would write if she were to claim the win in the Grand National this year.

She has been well supported in the Grand National odds 2022 as there has been a spotlight on her.

The mare is the first mother to line up in the Grand National for over a century.

Snow Leopards is quality without question and looks to be the big of the British interest in the big race.

She was away from action from September 2017 for a couple of years but has since returned to warrant some huge interest in Grand National odds.

Snow Leopardess claimed the Becher Chase at Aintree in December, granted only by the narrowest of margin ahead of Hill Sixteen, but that gives her form over the Grand National fences.

She also receives weight from the other big players currently showing well in the Grand National ante-post odds.
