Greece v Italy Betting Tips – Euro 2020 Qualifiers, 8th June 7.45pm

This is action from the top of Group J of Euro 2020 qualification. Italy have picked up six points from six to open their campaign with, and so if they complete another victory they will be sitting very pretty at the top of the group. But this is a big game for Greece because they are only two points back of the Italians and so have a chance to go top if they can make the most of home advantage. Greece News and Form

Greece have had a decent return from their opening two games of Euro 2020 qualification. They collected a 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein, before playing out a draw away at Bosnia and Herzegovina. That was a very good away point that the Greeks collected. It is hard to get a read on Greece because they are hit and miss at the best of times. They have a very mixed record over their last nine fixtures, winning four and losing four in that sequence. Actually, their victory over Liechtenstein at the start of Euro 2020 qualification is their only victory in their last four fixtures.

Italy Winning at Half Time

William Hill

Greece have only failed to score in one of their last five games, they have found the back of the net in each of their last three. So they do have that positive going for them at the moment. Greece took a win in two of their last three home games, which were both 1-0 victories over Hungary and Finland back in the Nations League campaign. In the Nations League campaign, Greece finished third behind Finland and Hungary, but they were well comfortably ahead of Estonia who were relegated. Over their six Nations League games Greece produced only the four goals.

  • The Italians have won four of their last five games

Italy News and Form

Italy have made a steady start to their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. They opened with a 2-0 victory on home soil over Finland, before delivering the big 6-0 victory over Liechtenstein. That is a three-match winning streak that the Italians are currently on, having earned one in four of their last five played (D1). So things seem to be improving for them after having missed out on reaching last summer’s World Cup. In their Nations League group campaign Italy finish sandwiched between winners Portugal and the relegated Poland.

During their Nations League campaign Italy still looked as if they were in a bit of a transitional period, looking like a work in progress more than anything. But their defence has certainly been improving as they are on a five-match sequence of games without conceding a single goal. Italy don’t look particularly threatening going forward at the moment, so this could end up being a low scoring game out in Greece. In the bigger picture, the Italians are strong favourites to win this group and if they were to go and collect three points in their first away game of the campaign, they would be sitting very comfortably. Following this, Italy will play hosts to Bosnia and Herzegovina in their next qualifier.

Greece v Italy Predictions

Italy to win: this may not be a big spectacular spectacle at the end of the day. Italy just need to get the job done and they will have one eye on the tougher home game coming up just a few days later against Bosnia and Herzegovina. So Italy to win by a one-goal margin looks pretty solid wager.
