Greenbrier Classic 2017 Golf Betting Odds & Preview

Take note of former Greenbrier winners for renewal

Golf Betting

The seventh edition of the Greenbrier Classic will be contested this week on the PGA Tour. So it’s off to West Virginia this one and the players will be taking on The Old White Course. The course is a really old one, even if the tournament is new on the PGA Tour. The course is over 100 years old and obviously, throughout its time it has had some major renovations done. You have The Open coming up this month of course and that has affected participation in the Greenbrier Classic in terms of it not particularly being a super deep field.

Still, as always with golf there is plenty of good value around if you go back and look at the stats, and in particular those players who have performed well at the Greenbrier before. Former US Open winner Webb Simpson is one of those and he has three top ten finishes at the course, including last season’s appearance. He hasn’t won on the Tour since back in 2013 though, but because he seems to be a horse for the course, then he makes great 22/1 each way value at Boylesports for the tournament.

Another player with a bit of course history is Jimmy Walker, who like Simpson, has had three top ten finishes at the Greenbrier before. But if you are shaping up the two in current form, then it is Simpson who is running better at the moment. David Lingmerth has finished in the top ten in two of his last three visits to the Greenbrier and again like Simpson makes for some cracking value therefore at a price 22/1 with Boylesports.

Bill Haas is in much shorter at a price of 18/1 to win the tournament outright, and he has claimed second place at the tournament before and is in some decent consistency at the moment and both things combine to make him a pretty decent shot this week. Another player running in some decent form at the moment in terms of consistency, if not looking as if he can deliver on a Sunday, is Patrick Reed who is going as the 12/1 outright favourite. Unlike Simpson and Lingmerth though he doesn’t have the track record at the tournament.

Phil Mickelson is back in action at a price of 22/1 with Boylesports and he will probably be going straight over to the UK for The Open after this one. He has played at the course before which would normally pique some interested in Big Lefty, however, he failed to make the cut in each of those previous appearances and this will be his first tournament since June, so it’s not as if he is going into the tournament in red hot form either.
