Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle has sparked a media frenzy but is hardly a surprise. The Prince and the Suits actress have been an item for quite a while so the tabloids have had plenty of time to write their pithy strap lines. Some desperate journalists are trying to draw a comparison between Edward and Mrs Simpson but the only similarity in their stories relate to Ms Markle being a divorcee who happens to be an American. Times, attitude and circumstances are hopefully much changed since the 1930s!
Whether Meghan will give up her acting career remains to be seen (she is being written out of her most well-known role) as she seems to be an independent and outspoken woman with forthright views on a number of subjects. However, being a princess (or more probably a duchess) does have a habit of becoming time consuming and the couple have already announced that they will marry and live in London.
