Just appearing at the PDC World Championships is a notable acheivement for PDC Tour rookie Harry Ward and he’ll record his biggest-ever pay day if he beats Latvian Madars Razma in his first round match.

Ward, aka the Big H, is only 22 and only got his Tour card in January. Predictably, he’s found life tough in his first year but did qualify for the Players’ Championship Finals at Minehead last month, only losing out to Darius Labanauskas in the final leg of his first round match when he probably thinks he should have won.

Razmar has more experience and is the Latvian champion but he never got beyond the second round of the BDO World Championship so is unlikely to strike any fear into opponents at Alexandra Palace.

He did, however, win a match at the Players’ Championship Finals and his place on the PDC Tour is guaranteed for another two years so the 31-year-old will be hoping to press on now he’s got a bit of financial security.

All things considered, however, Ward has the greater potential. He certainly looks worth a bet to upset Razzmataz at a best 6/5, though it could go down to the wire.
