Safe Voyage the 10/3 FAV in John Of Gaunt Stakes

There are strong claims from SAFE VOYAGE on Saturday at Haydock. He is a very smart performer.

Safe Voyage claimed three wins last season in a big burst of progress. Two of those were at Group 2.

So this run on Saturday is reasonably within his scope.

The latest run that Safe Voyage had was two weeks ago at Newbury in the Lockinge Stakes.

That Group 1 effort was a little much for him and it was at the 1m trip as well. He will be that much sharper being eased in grade and on trip.

Safe Voyage is the 10/3 favourite and is a big player* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

Can Toro Strike get his nose in front again?

There is a reasonable chance for TORO STRIKE to go out and complete a double on Saturday.

On his reappearance in a minor event at Thirsk in April, Toro Strike collected a win.

That was as comfortable as it gets for him as he won easily and was well on top at the close.

But there was a group effort from him at the end of the previous campaign and in that Toro Strike came up a long way short.

Does have extra in him on a return to pattern company?

Toro Strike is a quote of 9/2 to get the win on Saturday* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

Glorious Journey could be the one to beat

GLORIOUS JOURNEY is in with a big chance at 5/1 in John Of Gaunt Stakes racing odds* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

He was last seen in action in February in a Turf Sprint and he wasn’t disgraced with a fourth place finish in that contest either.

Glorious Journey is a good versatile horse and has a big chance here for Charlie Appleby.

There were a couple of Group 2 victories for him last season and he looks to be just about on the cusp of a return to winning ways.

With Thanks needs respect at Haydock

There is an interesting entry here for WITH THANKS who is not without hope in the contest.

She went very well last season, getting up to score a Group 3 victory at Naas along the way.

With Thanks has won two of her last three runs now and the conditions at Haydock on Saturday are going to really play to her strengths.

While she is going to have to overcome a lengthy absence, she is in good hands and retains plenty of potential.

With Thanks is a quote of 9/2 for the score* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

River Nymph looks for the double

Arriving in form after a score three weeks ago at the Victoria Cup, RIVER NYMPH also has a chance in this deep field.

Just a look back to last summer shows what he’s capable of. He made great strikes, landing a pair of handicaps at 7f.

On his reappearance the result wasn’t there in the Lincoln, but there wasn’t a bad run from River Nymph in that regardless.

He showed a lot of keenness to build on that to get the follow up score in that Victoria Cup effort at Ascot from an 11/1 SP.

There is a quote of 7/1 on RIVER NYMPH to win* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

The rest of the runners

BRAD THE BRIEF hasn’t really put together a run of any note at this distance. Current form has seen him well held in two efforts for this campaign.

KINROSS scored on a 1m trip in November to end the campaign. He has two runs this year, both at Meydan. Neither of them suggests that he’s going to be a big player on Saturday.

NJORD was third last time out. He could be making his way back to full fitness and there was plenty to admire about his previous campaign. Njord comes up in class and this may just be a little too soon for him.

QUEEN JO JO is the big outsider here. On her appearance she was well held over course and distance. She did win a Group 3 at York in July last year (6f). She has plenty to find based on her reappearance.

Predictions & Tips for Haydock John Of Gaunt Stakes Racing Odds

There are plenty of good claims around in this contest. SAFE VOYAGE has to be a selection for the shortlist at 10/3* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway)

He is coming back to his best distance after a disappointing turn out at the Lockinge Stakes for his renewal. We expect to see him back looking much sharper.

WITH THANKS has plenty of interest as she is a progressive filly. She was really on the up in the autumn and looks to have a good chance in these conditions at 9/2* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on May 28th, 2021 at Betway).

The final one for the shorts is GLORIOUS JOURNEY who has put a couple of good runs together this season. He’s a nice versatile sort and is good enough to make a run at the places.
