Hiddink a temporary replacement for Chelsea if 9/4 Mourinho gets the sack?

Are Chelsea shooting for Guardiola?

Football Betting

While Jose Mourinho is a 9/4 second favourite option in the next Premier League manager to leave market, it’s worth considering the scenario if Chelsea do sack him. It is is heading towards mid-season and all the top managers around are pretty much tied up at the moment. So if Mourinho gets the push now then it’s likely that they will run with an interim boss until the end of the season.

It would make sense therefore that Guus Hiddink could be the one to step into the breach after becoming such a popular figure there in rescuing Chelsea’s 2008/09 season in winning the FA Cup and eleven of the thirteen league matches which he coached with the Blues.

But looking further ahead in the next Chelsea manager betting market, There hasn’t been much said about Carlo Ancelotti making a return, the former Chelsea boss was somewhat unceremoniously booted out of Stamford Bridge the season after winning the double with the club. He at least is a man out of work at the moment after having stepped down from his Real Madrid role in the summer.

But all the hype and rumours seems to point to Chelsea getting their hands on Pep Guardiola for the start of next season, which would throw fuel on the fire of Chelsea not actively looking for a direct replacement right now for Mourinho. It also hints that they may just let Mourinho run through to the end of the season.

Guardiola is a 6/1 favourite in the next Chelsea manager betting with Sky Bet, with Carlo Ancelotti at 12/1. Current Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has been trimmed a little bit into a price of 8/1 and makes for an interesting name in the hat, as he would team up with former striker Diego Costa and may be able to get the best out of the Spaniard.
