Huddersfield Town v Middlesbrough Predictions & Betting Odds – 23rd October 2019

Vital victory for the Terriers

Huddersfield Town v Middlesbrough Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 23rd October 19.45pm

The pressure is really starting to crank up on Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate, as his side fell to a fourth defeat in five games last weekend. On Wednesday night, Boro travel to a revitalised Huddersfield Town, who are now unbeaten in their last four in the EFL Championship. Danny Cowley’s Terriers are the 13/10 favourites to pick up all three points at the John Smith’s Stadium in midweek.

Huddersfield Town News and Form – Can the Terriers extend unbeaten run to five games?

The Cowley brothers have made an instant impact since arriving at the John Smith’s Stadium from Lincoln City. Despite losing their opening two under Danny Cowley, Huddersfield Town have now gone four games undefeated, winning two and drawing two.

After picking up seven points from fixtures against Millwall, Stoke City and Hull City, the Terriers held Blackburn Rovers to a 2-2 draw at Ewood Park last Saturday. Town took the lead before going behind, but Juninho Bacuna continued his fine goal-scoring form by bagging an equaliser in Lancashire.

Huddersfield briefly moved out of the relegation zone before dropping back in after last weekend’s results. The Cowley’s still have work to do, but another win on Wednesday will take them back out of the bottom three.

  • Middlesbrough are just one point above Town in the table

Middlesbrough News and Form – Another damaging defeat for Woodgate?

Things have not quite gone to plan for Jonathan Woodgate so far, as Middlesbrough have picked up only two Championship wins. Since beating Reading 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium in mid-September, Boro have taken just one point from five games, losing four and drawing one.

Despite a decent performance, Middlesbrough were beaten by league leaders West Bromwich Albion in their last outing. Boro had chances on home soil, but a late Hal Robson-Kanu goal gave the Baggies all three points at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough have really struggled away from home this season, drawing two and losing three of five in the Championship. Boro are one of five teams without an away win in the second tier. With the pressure mounting on the Middlesbrough boss, can the Reds pick up their first away victory since winning at Rotherham United on the final day of last term?

Huddersfield Town v Middlesbrough Predictions

Huddersfield Town win: The Terriers have had a desperate last 18 or months or so. Their recent win at Stoke was only their second victory since November last year. Meanwhile, Huddersfield won just three games in the Premier League last season, going on to finish bottom of the pile with a mere 16 points to their name.

However, they have certainly turned a corner in recent weeks, picking up a respectable eight points from the last 12 on offer. Having thumped Hull 3-0 in their last home game, I fancy Huddersfield to follow that up with a narrow victory on Wednesday. It could be worth backing the hosts to win by a one-goal margin (3/1).

Karlan Grant is enjoying a fine season in front of goal for the Terriers. The 22-year-old has already helped himself to seven Championship goals, with two of those coming in his last two games. Grant is available at 6/4 to notch anytime in this one.
