Hull City vs Derby County Live Stats & Betting Odds

Hull City News and Form – Can the Tigers seal a third home win of the season?

Grant McCann’s Hull City went into Wednesday’s fixture at the City Ground having fallen to back-to-back defeats to Huddersfield Town and Queens Park Rangers. However, the Tigers were excellent at Nottingham Forest, with goals from Josh Magennis and Jarrod Bowen giving them a 2-1 win. Magennis was sent off in the 68th-minute, but McCann’s men held on for all three points.

Hull have struggled at times on home soil this season, winning just two of their opening seven home Championship fixtures. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and QPR have all left the KCOM with maximum points.

Hull will be buoyed after midweek’s impressive victory in Nottingham. However, can McCann’s boys follow that up with a win over Derby at the KCOM at the weekend?

Hull City vs Derby County Head to Head

Derby beat Hull three times last season; home and away in the league and once in the Carabao Cup

The Rams have won five and drawn one of the previous six league and cup meetings

Hull have not beaten Derby at the KCOM in five attempts (losing four and drawing one)

Key-Facts – Hull City vs Derby County

  • The Tigers have won just two of seven home league games this season
  • The Rams have won only one away league match under Cocu
  • Four points separate the pair in the table, with Hull in 19th and Derby sitting in ninth

Derby County News and Form – Rams to pick up a rare away victory?

Derby County have made themselves hard to beat of late, losing just one of their last seven in the Championship. On Wednesday night, Graeme Shinnie’s late goal gave the Rams a crucial 1-0 win over Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic at Pride Park.

However, Derby have struggled away from home under Phillip Cocu, failing to win in the league since beating Huddersfield Town 2-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium on the opening weekend of the season. County have taken just three points on the road since then. In their last away game, Cocu’s boys were thumped 3-0 by Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Derby can be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship if they can get their act together on their travels. Three points at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday would be a good start.

Hull City vs Derby County Predictions

Derby County win: This one could go either way at the KCOM, especially as both sides picked up wins in the week. Hull will want to improve at home, though, having claimed just two home wins this term. As for Derby, they are on the lookout for their first away victory since August.

Like I said, this could be close, but I’m putting my money on the Derby win at 12/5. Cocu’s troops are beginning to find some form, winning three of five, and they will fancy their chances of leaving Yorkshire with all three points.

City have scored in nine of their last ten league and cup matches. Meanwhile, Derby have netted eight goals in their previous five. Put some money on the away side to win and both teams to score (5/1) this weekend.
