Huntingdon Sunday 16:30: Bet365 offer 3/1 racing odds on Tegerek – 1st March 2020

Long-priced Marmont can shine in a race of few genuine claims

Horse Racing Betting

This Huntingdon trip on Sunday is a handicap hurdle at class 4. There are seven entered for the contest and there has been some close action in the racing betting at the head of the market.

Tegerek looks as if he is just going to head to the start as the favourite under pressure from Blazing Saddles.

It is a bit of an old field with no real stand out challenger that has tremendous appeal.

Tegerek 3/1
Blazing Saddles 10/3

Tegerek

Tegerek has been well supported at the head of the race market, but he is still looking for his first win. He has placed three times out of eight starts in the national hunt. He was fourth of sixth last time out over the hurdles at Southwell in a 3m trip in December.

Tegerek is going with a hood for the first time and heads up the field at 3/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:55 GMT on February 29th, 2020)

Marmont
10/1

Blazing Saddles

The second favourite to the tune of 10/3 is Blazing Saddles* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:55 GMT on February 29th, 2020). He had a poor run in his last trip however as he was 15th of 20 at Newbury.

That was in a 2m maiden hurdle in December last year. It has been four starts over the hurdles from him and he has yet to get even a place finish. Will this be a chance for the 5-year-old to get there?

Marmont

Course and distance winner Marmont was 7th of 10 on his last hurdle outing. That was at Plumpton last month at a 2m 4f distance. He had gone at 25/1 and was therefore not expected to be in the in the frame.

His claims will come from that course at distance win which he took in February 2018. Plus he did put in a good run to claim a victory at Taunton just back in March at 2m.

Chief Brody

Chief Brody was 4th of eight at Warwick in a 2m trip at class 4 in his last race, which was in May last year. So there’s that long break. Back in March 2018, he returned after a long absence to claim a 2m win at Warwick, so he has done it before. But still, it’s not the greatest of claims to pick up the win in this race.

Rest of the Runners

Bon Calvados was 11th of 12 on his last hurdle outing which was at Taunton in November last year. The handicapping may come into his favour for this one. He is still looking for his first hurdle success in what will be his sixth attempt, however.

Christoper Robin has some dreadful form behind him. He has actually won at 2m over the hurdles before. But his current form is going to inspire no-one as it reads 80070. The five-year-old was 10th of 15 on his last outing which at Bangor last month.

Golconda Prince pulled up in December at Sandown having started at 66/1. Like most of the field in this one there just is nothing about the six-year-old to really get pumped up about.

Predictions & Tips

What a strange race. It is basically a bunch out of form horses and therefore whoever does come out on top, is the best of a bad bunch currently and will really say nothing about them.

But who can get the win? Tegerek stands out even though he hasn’t been running well recently and you have to size up the lack of serious competition in his race.

But for the pick, we are going to swing for Marmont. His recent win at Taunton was off of this very mark and that is the factor, along with a decent price in a bad field, to take on.
