Iceland v Belgium Betting Tips – Nations League, 11th September 7.45pm

There was a really poor start from Iceland to their Nations League campaign as they were torn to shreds by Switzerland over the weekend. That leaves them in a massive hole in the group as they have to take on Belgium now. This is the first action in the competition for the Red Devils, but they put four goals past Scotland in an easy friendly win as a warm-up. Read our predictions for Iceland v Belgium.

Iceland News and Form

Iceland had a match to forget over the weekend as they were torn apart by Switzerland in their opening Nations League match. Iceland lost 6-0 in a bruising result. They do have a new head coach and they are missing several key players from their starting lineup as well. So for this one, there is no real reason to expect that they are going to be a lot stronger and both teams not to score is at 4/6 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.). That looks like a strong place to start for our Iceland v Belgium predictions.

Iceland overall are just not carrying any form with them at the moment. Their form in their last eight games reads D2 L6. After such a positive couple of years of action, their standards have fallen away. Defensively they are just not strong at the moment because in seven of their last nine games they have conceded at least two goals. Just because of that along it may be worth looking over 2.5 goals at Paddy Power for 5/6 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.).

Belgium News and Form

Belgium warmed up for this Nations League opener for them, by pounding Scotland 4-0 in a friendly at Hampden Park. The Red Devils are just in terrific form at the moment and they had that great run at Russia 2018 as well, reaching the semi-finals there. Since early September 2016, they have lost just one game and that was against France in the World Cup semi-final back in the summer. So there is no way we see an upset playing itself out in this competitive match. Romelu Lukaku is the 3/1 first goalscorer favourite for the game* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.).

He was on the scoresheet against Scotland. The Red Devils have a lot of scoring power. They have returned at least two goals in nine of their last twelve games. Iceland frankly don’t look to be too much of a threat at the moment and therefore in the correct score market we are looking at a Belgium 3-0 option at 8/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.). Belgium did score three goals past Iceland in their only previous meeting. After seeing what Switzerland did to Iceland on the weekend, Belgium should be chomping at the bit to get going in this one.

Iceland v Belgium Head to Head

This will be just the second meeting between Iceland and Belgium. The previous one was a 2014 international friendly back in 2014. Belgium were comprehensive winners there, banking a 3-1 win with Romelu Lukaku getting on the scoresheet.
