While they were hammered 4-0 by France in a second fixture, sandwiching those losses were wins over Andorra and Albania. But those were games of course which Iceland were expected to be victorious in. It has been a blistering start from Turkey in their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. They have won all three of their games, scoring eight unanswered goals in the process. They pulled off a big shock as underdogs on the weekend, as they collected a 2-0 home success against reigning world champions France. So that leaves Turkey in a strong position at the top of the group, holding a three-point advantage over both France and Iceland. So they may look at this and see that a point wouldn’t be a bad result for them really. That will guarantee that they stay on top of the group come the close of this current international break.
Turkey did not particularly have a great Nations League campaign, so this has been a great improvement in current form from them. They seem to have settled down well now and are heading back in a positive direction.
