Can The Governess rule the jungle?

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

It is the nature of I’m A Celebrity that the final line-up is not confirmed until the ‘celebrities’ are jettisoned out of the ITV helicopter before making their way into the jungle but the magazines, newspapers and websites who rely on TV programmes like this to pep up their circulation and viewing figures have watchers posted at every appropriate airport to report on who is coming through customs ahead of the start of the new series.

No Ant this year, of course, with Declan Donnelly instead sharing hosting duties with Holly Willoughby – how will Philip manage without her?

Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer is said to be among those who have already jetted in, despite denying he’s on the show. I can’t see Nick Knowles, he of DIY SOS, will find those years of hanging about with tradesmen will come in useful if he has to put together a makeshift shelter.

It’s unlikely that Harry Redknapp is going to get another job in football management after the debacle at Birmingham but he must think there is money to be made on the celebrity circuit, no doubt taking a cue from son Jamie. Redknapp senior turned up on a comedy panel show recently and has been seen flying into Australia’s Gold Coast in recent days, reinforcing rumours that he is en route to the jungle. That said, he is still listed as an adviser to Australian side Central Coast Mariners so maybe there is an innocent explanation. Harry is 10/1 with Ladbrokes to win I’m A Celebrity but there are some names on the betting lists that are purely speculation and not well researched at that.

However, it seems that The Chase’s Anne Hegerty has already let the cat out of the bag. ‘The Governess’, as she’s known on the teatime quiz show hosted by Bradley Walsh, has also appeared on the Australian version of The Chase so is almost a local and is Ladbrokes’ 6/1 joint favourite with Coronation Street’s Sair Khan. Former X Factor contestant Fleur East is 8/1 in the early betting and no doubt there will be the usual contingent from reality shows that nobody over 25 watches. Of course, that doesn’t mean they can’t win – I give you Georgia Toffolo from 12 months ago.
