Actor John Barrowman has emerged as the early 3/1 favourite to win the series* (betting odds taken on November 13th, 2018 at 5:59 pm).

Barrowman the favourite

Noel Edmonds was running as the early favourite to win this series but in the end, he didn’t get there. Since the announcement of the final list of people who were heading to the jungle, most of the bets were going towards Barrowman who had been a 10/1 outsider before the official announcement was made. So that has been a huge backing for him, still this is all pre-event stuff will have no bearing on what actually transpires.

Young Queens of the jungle

Each of the last three winners of the show have been ladies under the age of 30 years. So that is the current trend with the show as Vicky Pattison, Scarlett Moffatt and Georgia Toffolo have swept the show in the last three editions. So that could at least lean towards where the show has been heading in terms of the demographic watching, viewing and voting. The shortest-priced women in the field this time are The Chase star Anne Hegerty and The Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack, the latter being under 30.

Mostly Male

59% of the previous winners of I’m A Celebrity have been male through which will, of course, cut down the field a bit if that was the direction in which you went. Again the early market would swing that back to Barrowman with The Vamps guitarist Jake McVey holding pretty well there as the 5/1 second favourite* (betting odds taken on November 13th, 2018 at 5:59 pm). But there has been a definite shift with a man winning just three of the last eight editions.

Reality Really Strong

What is the trend between the most recent winners than other than being all females under 30? They have all been reality tv stars. Viki Pattison was from the Geordie Shore, Scarlett Moffatt from Gogglebox and then Georgia Toffolo from Made In Chelsea. But there are no campmates coming from the world reality tv for the 2018 edition of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. If you take out the reality tv stars who have finished in the top three of the last three editions, the next best-performing area has been stand up comedians and soap actors. That would be good news for Coronation Street actress Sair Khan who is at 7/1 odds* (betting odds taken on November 13th, 2018 at 5:59 pm) who, incidentally, is 30 years old.

Predictions

It is so hard to get caught up in all this from the early prices on the board. There is no rhyme or reason really why one person is going to be a stronger favourite than another. You do of course get some guidance from the outward personalities of the campmates and John Barrowman has always come across as a positive, outgoing person and will, therefore, have the appeal. However, looking at the recent trends of young female winners, it is Sair Khan who really checks all the boxes.
