Inter Milan v Marseille Champions League Betting could still have a lot of life left in it, as the two sides head to the San Siro for part two of their last sixteen match. French side Marseille stunned the Italians, as Andre Ayew settled what was a pretty evenly contested encounter in stoppage time. That was a massive boost for Didier Deschamps and Marseille because not only had they looked to have denied Inter an away goal, but they took the even bigger prize of taking a goal advantage. So the ball could firmly be in the court of Marseille, and the little bit of trivia for this one, is that Deschamps never lost an away match in the San Siro as a player. So the Marseille coach will be hoping that streak continues into his managerial career.

Marseille were the more energetic of the two sides, they seemed to keener to get into tackles and push forward to get Inter on the back foot. Marseille progressed through the group stage of this season’s Champions League as runner’s up to Arsenal, and the French side have shown what a handful they really can be. They are a quick and powerful side as well, and they work extremely hard to get the ball back off opposition. However, their league form is woeful at the moment, losing four straight and they could well miss out on Europe next season as they are sitting down in eighth spot. Will that be a signal for Deschamps to put his case forward to becoming next Chelsea manager? First of all, he takes Marseille to Italy, knowing that an away goal will probably kill off Inter.

Inter Milan were left to play on the counter attack for a lot of the match in the first leg, as boss Claudio Ranieri was looking for a boost to get away from some poor league form. Truthfully, Inter did look quite comfortable at the back when Marseille pushed forward, and they absorbed quite a bit of pressure. There is still enough quality in the Milan side to carve out good opportunities for themselves. Ranieri’s men did have chances to take the match, but one moment deep into injury time caught them napping and now they have a bigger hill to climb. Ranieri is coming under increasing pressure, despite being the one to turn Inter’s fortunes around this season, he himself has hit a stick patch, where they have lost five of their last eight in Serie A. So the Champions league looks as if it his only salvation to keep his job at the moment.

But Inter just aren’t that good at the moment, certainly not at the back, and that is why Marseille stand a good chance of seeing this out. The French will be threats from set pieces because of their power, and while Marseille had more of the possession in the first leg, Inter may get on the ball there is away form to look at. Marseille won two and drew one group match away from home in the group stage, Inter lost two of their home matches in the group stage. This tie should have a lot of life in it because Inter really have to find something.
