Inter v Tottenham Betting Preview – UEFA Champions League 18th September 7.45pm

Neither of these have really lived up to their billing so far this season. Inter have yet to show the strengths and quality that they are perceived to have. They were tipped to be a challenger for the title in Serie A this term, but that has n’t panned out early on in the campaign. They are just W1 D1 L2 so far in their four games. At home, they have produced a D1 L2 record after going down against Parma there on the weekend. Because of current form of both, it is likely that this is going to be a tight battle. Inter are here for the first time since the 2011/12 season where they made it through to the first knockout round. The two wins in that sequence though were in their last two games and they were both 2-1 successes over French sides. Barcelona are also in this group so it’s not a game that Inter can really think about losing on home soil.

Last season’s group stage for Spurs produced a surprise as the Premier League outfit topped their group ahead of eventual tournament winners Real Madrid. Spurs won five of their group stage games (D1). This will be Tottenham’s fifth Champions League campaign and their record in the competition including qualification is W16 D7 L11. Their form has dropped away though having suffered back to back 2-1 defeats in the Premier League, against Watford and then against Liverpool on the weekend. In both defeats, they looked really disjointed and not playing with their usual clinical precision. Tottenham produced some great performances on the road in last seasons competition and that is what they need to tap into for this one. The first meeting between these which was in the UEFA Champions League produced a 4-3 win for Inter and then a 3-1 win for Spurs. So there were goals flying around and then again when they met back in the 2013 Europa League there were more high-scoring affairs, with Spurs winning 3-0 at home and losing 4-1 on the road. It means that all four previous meetings have ended in a home win.
