Race Details

This is a 1m 1f Allowance Optional Claiming Race on the turf at Santa Anita. The race is open to Fillies and Mares who are 4 year old plus.

Race Favourite

Arctic Roll does come forth with some good recent form. She was second by less than a length on her latest outing. She had been favourable for that contest as well, but was beaten out narrowly by Desert Oasis.

Arctic Roll has been successful twice at 1m on good ground and all-weather. It would be a surprise if she wasn’t in the frame at the end of this and is well priced as the 4/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020)

Claims

Kitty Boom Boom should bring decent claims in this one. She was third of seven at Santa Anita last month on a 1m trip. It was a good competitive run that she put in on the good ground.

She has scored twice at 1m on good ground and is likely to be in the picture at 9/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020)

Lavender has to be sized up as a serious contender in this one. She was third in a big field of 12 on her last outing which was the venue over a 1m trip. That was earlier this month, so that gives her good claims for the weekend. She will have her first run for new trainer Matthew Chew.

Peter’s Kitten was the 3/1 FAV on her last run at Santa Anita. She was fourth in the field of twelve, with Lavender a place ahead of her. So these two are likely going to be in with a decent claim for the places in this one. Competitive enough to get in the frame.

E/W Pick

The 12/1 pick Quinne is the each-way selection for this contest. She has picked up four wins before at 1m on the all-weather and on good ground.

She comes back into action after winning at 18/5 at the venue on a 1m trip in January. That was promising enough to see her stick her nose into this one as well.

Tip

Kitty Boom Boom is the only one in the field that has won on firm ground before. That could just give her the edge in what is a very competitive-looking contest. She can build on her third-place finish at the track in February on her return.

Race Details

This is a 6f Claiming Race on the main track on the dirt. This is a race open to four-year-olds and over.

Race Favourite

Baby Gronk is heading up the market for this small field at 2/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:11 GMT on Thursday 27th March 2020).

On his last run, he was fifth of six at Santa Anita. The five-year-old has won at 6f before. Can he put in a progressive run and claim this one on the weekend?

Claims

Abusive Gary is another winner at 6f. He is coming back down in grade which should put him in the frame. Jockey Abel Cedilla has a 20% strike rate in the last fourteen days, which should help out.

On his last run, he was 3l back of Unbroken Star, but was ahead of Baby Gronk. Can step forward and has good claims.

Kris Wild Kat is a big player and on his day can easily bring the heat in this one. He was 7/10 FAV on his last trip and came home second by a length.

This will be his first run since June last year so that is the slight grey area about him. A classy horse who can deliver if he can bounce straight back to top form after a big lay off.

As for Bob’s Sniper he did produce a progressive run last time out. He was third of 6 in a 6f test at Santa Anita last month. He was 10 lengths back of the winner on that one and he does look as if he will have to find a fair bit more to strike up the win.

E/W Pick

Obviously not a big field to dig through in this one. As for the two that we haven’t featured, Captain Buzzkill and Scouted, neither have enough to appeal at 10/1 and 13/2 respectively* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:11 GMT on Thursday 27th March 2020).

Captain Buzkill was heavily beaten, finishing last in a field of nine at the venue in January. Scouted was last of 11 on his last run and hard to find any claims whatsoever for either.

Tip

A small field to pick from. Kris’ Wild Kat is arguably the best horse in the field. But the five year old has been away for a long time. However, if he returns without having skipped a beat, then he could land a blow in this one against a competitive, but not great company.

Race Details

This action from Santa Anita is a 1m 2f trip. It is one of the bigger races on the card as well because it is a Grade 3 contest. It’s on the turf over the Hillside Course and is open for Fillies and Mares 4-years-old and above.

Race Favourite

Leading the racing betting market for this one is Opus Won at 11/4 * (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020). She is stepping up in class in this one, but still looks like a big player.

She comes out for a new stable today and is just in great form. There have been four wins that Opus Won has produced from 1m to 1m 3f. She won her last race as well on a 1m 1f trip as the 6/5 FAV and has massive claims.

Claims

Tiny Tina was fifth of nine on her last run. She was a big 22/1 poke for the race which was the Grade 2 Beuna Vista Stakes at Santa Anita in February. In this kind of company she should stand up very well.

In total she has claimed five wins from 6 to 1m 1f and is worthy of consideration at 7/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:11 GMT on Thursday 27th March 2020).

There looks to be plenty of progressive appeal about Dogtag. He was second in a field of 8 at 19/5 on her last trip out at Santa Anita. That was earlier this month on a 1m trip and has won twice before at that distance. Not to be dismissed in this one.

If you are taking a look at Tiny Tina then Siberian Iris also has to be considered in his one as well. She was three wins under her belt from 1m to 1m 3f. She was third of seven on her last trip in January where she was competitive, with Tiny Tina one place ahead of her.

E/W Pick

Meal Ticket at 14/1 is the each-way pick* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:11 GMT on Thursday 27th March 2020). She was in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes at Santa Anita in that 1m contest last month. She was a little out of her depth in that one, but this is a company more geared towards her level.

Tip

There are some good claims in this one. We are just going to pass on Opus Won because of the test in a higher grade. So it’s Tiny Tina that we fancy to come to the head of the field and claim the win in this contest.

Race Details

This is the penultimate race of the day from Santa Anita. It is a 1m½f trip on the dirt over the main track at the course. It is for four-year-olds and above.

Race Favourite

Wilshire Dude has some recent form which should put him in the picture in this one. He is the 9/4 favourite for this one* (betting odds taken from ladbrokes at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020).

He was second on his last trip from 5/1 which was at Golden Gate Fields. That was on a 1m trip. Wilshire Dude has won three times before from 7f to 1m and has strong claims. Trainer Steven Miyadi is 3-3 in the last fourteen days so is hot.

Claims

Fire When Ready was a beaten favourite on his last trip from 13/10 FAV. He was third of five in that contest which was at the venue over 6f. He has been knocking on the door in his last two runs and wouldn’t be winning out of turn on the weekend if he comes up with the goods. Trainer Jeff Mullins has gone 2-5 in the last fourteen days.

Incredible Luck could be in the frame. He has switched stable since his last run. He has been competitive in much stronger company than this, and he is coming down in class for this fixture. So that means he should have a say in this one. He has won three times at 1m before.

Original Intent is a three-time course scorer and he could bring claims for this fixture. He was fifth of sixty on his last run over a 7f trip at Stana Anita earlier this month. He is still going to need to find more to win in this kind of company, however.

Imagineimthefastest shouldn’t be overlooked for the contest either. He was third of five on his last run at the venue. Before that he had scored a win. He has claimed three times between 6f and 1m.

Cabin John finished near the back of the pack on his last run on a 1m trip at the venue earlier in March. Has won six races from 6f to 1m.

Tip

It is all about Wilshire Dude for us in this one. Trainer Steven Miyadi is in form and is trending towards a win. He wouldn’t be winning out of turn and even though this field looks wide open, the strongest appeal is in Wilshere Dude driving on from his back to back second places.
