Race Details

This early action from Tampa Bay Downs is a 1m claiming race. The action is on the turf and is open to horses at least four years of age. The going is firm.

Race Favourite

Power Walker heads up the market at 2/1 for this early action from Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:31 GMT on Saturday 28th March 2020).

He scored as the 4/5 FAV at course and distance on his last run, so has superb claims as he looks for the double.

In total, he won five races between 7f to 1m. Power Walker will take some stopping having won his last two at this level.

Claims

Looking like a clear contender is Pure Luck who is also bringing winning form to the race. He scored at 1m as the 2/1 joint-favourite in his last run. That was at the venue as well. He had been trending towards that and gives trainer David Fisher, who is 1-2 in the last fourteen days, another excellent shot at a victory.

Fox Rox has massive experience and the nine-year-old is such a reliable runner. He has secured a top-three finish in each of his last five runs, scoring in one of those. In total, he has notched 17 career wins between 5f to 1m and has to be in the picture and is well respected in the market at 7/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:31 GMT on Saturday 28th March 2020)

Whistle Me Home nearly scored on his last run at course and distance. That effort was earlier this month where he was beaten by almost three lengths in a field of ten. But from a 7/1 quote, he held very well and it was a sign that he was back in form. He has scored in two of his last four outings.

E/W Pick

Blue Pigeon looks at the pick of the each-way options for this racing betting market. He will be taking on his first run for new trainer J Kent Sweezey in this one and jockey Wilmer Garcia has scored three times in his last 13 rides.

Blue Pigeon was found wanting a bit on his last trip, where he was third of ten at C&D earlier this month, but if he can find a little more, he could get in the frame from 14/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020).

Tip

The form is with Power Walker and that is where the action is going to have to be for us. There are excellent claims from the consistent Fox Rox as well as Pure Luck. But Power Walker is on top of his game as he goes for a hat-trick at this level.

Race Details

Lining up for this one is a field of 10 for what is a 1m 3f Starter Handicap. This will be on the turf (firm) and the race is open to four year old Fillies and Mares of at least four years of age.

Race Favourite

There is joint favouritism between native Lion and Stormy D for this one at 7/2* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020).

Native Lion got the better of Stormy D in a recent meeting at Tampa Bay Downs last month. That was on a slightly shorter 1m 1f trip. But she took the win by one and a half lengths from a 7/1 SP.

Stormy D is a consistent runner and looks evenly matched enough for punters to consider her turning the tables on Native Lion. The four year old has recently changed trainers and may prefer the extra trip to challenge with. Jockey Jesus Lopez Castanon has a 25% strike rate in the last fourteen days as well.

Claims

Haniel will bring some very good claims to the table at an 8/1 quote* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020). She is a three-time winner at the 1m trip, so will need to find just a little bit more.

There was an excellent win delivered by her on her last run which was at the venue, getting the better of Legacy Park by a couple of lengths. She’s on a hattrick.

Mad Grace is another in the race who can’t totally be overlooked in her chances. She won her last run at the venue (1m) in February. That’s three straight wins from her now and there is little reason to suggest that the five-year-old won’t be in the mix somehow during the sprint.

Colonel’s Daughter also arrives with claims. She has taken five wins between 7f and 1m. She claimed a third-place finish at Tampa Bay Downs on her last run, behind winner Native Lion. But she wasn’t disgraced in the fixture at all and can’t be ignored on her return.

E/W Pick

Sundrenched is a surprisingly long-price for this one at 14/1* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020). She was in contention on her last run at Tampa Bay Downs when fourth behind Native Lion. May have to find a little more in the trip, but looks to have place claims if she brings a big run.

Tip

You look at Native Lion and see that she has had the fairly recent beating of a clutch of the other competitors in this field. So that naturally leaves her as a very strong contender. But being slightly underrated is Haniel who is on a four-timer and may be able to spring a surprise.

Race Details

There is a good line up for this one, which is on the dirt of the main track at Tampa Bay Downs. This is a 7f Claiming Race open to 3-year-olds and above. The going is fast for this one.

Race Favourite

There was some racing betting market movement in favour of The Exception on Saturday ahead of this race who was trimmed to 5/2* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020).

He was the favourite for his last run when he let down supporters coming home fourth in a field of nine over a 6f trip her last month. He has been consistent however with form and wouldn’t be scoring a win out of turn.

Claims

Rare Hue brings a winning touch to proceedings for Tampa Bay Downs racing betting on Sunday. He picked up the success by half a length over Happy Guy at course and distance. He had delivered the goods as the 5/2 favourite in the race. Rare Hue will have a big chance in this one with a good run and jockey Ronald Dale Allen Jr is 2-19 in the last fourteen days.

Bravely Bold from 7/1 is not to be overlooked either* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 20:17 GMT on Friday, 27th March 2020). He picked up a victory on his last trip as well, claiming a success from 14/5 odds at course and distance. That was earlier this month so has to be respected. He beat Happy Guy in that, so he brings similar claims to Rare Hue.

E/W Pick

There were better signs of a return to form for Awesome Romeo on his last trip where he was fifth of nine from 16/1. That was on a 6f trip, so will prefer the extra furlong on the dirt for this one. He needed that improvement as well after a poor showing in his previous race. He’s searching for more, but Awesome Romeo did score a recent win at 7f.

Tip

An interesting field here, but favourite The Exception hasn’t found his winning touch in recent efforts and can be taken on in this one. We are a little torn between Rare Hue and Bravely Bold with their claims, but the former just gets it. The four-year-old just has the extra touch of consistency to be backed with.

Race Details

This late action from Tampa Bay Downs is a 1m Allowance Optional Claiming Race. It’s on the turf for three-year-old fillies only, with the going declared as firm.

Race Favourite

Duchess Of Sussex heads the racing betting market in this fixture at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:31 GMT on Saturday 28th March 2020). She won a 1m trip at Gulfstream recently on good ground. It was a good solid run that she produced in that one, winning by half a length. She looked as if she had plenty more to come.

Claims

Queen’s Embrace adds some big claims in this one from 4/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:31 GMT on Saturday 28th March 2020). She is on a hattrick after claiming a win as the 17/10 FAV at Tampa Bay Downs last month. That was on a 1m trip. She is swinging in the right direction and needs to be highly respected on this one.

Bridge Dancer also won as a favourite on her last trip at Tampa Bay Downs which was at 6f in February. That was a highly progressive run from her and has produced nothing but consistent running. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see her in the frame.

There is also Real Doozie who has won two of her last three trips. She’s perhaps not quite as progressive as some of the others mentioned in this race, but her last win, by a distance of 4 lengths as 11/10 favourite over 5f at the venue, piques some interest.

E/W Pick

No qualms about the each-way pick for this Tampa Bay Downs contest. That is Chick’s Shadow at 9/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:31 GMT on Saturday 28th March 2020). She was second of six from an 8/1 SP on her last run. She has been in the frame in each of her last three runs and trainer Ian Hemingway is 1-2 in the last fourteen days.

Tip

There are some massive claims in this one and it’s a tough field to pick through with the likes of the Duchess of Sussex and Queen’s Embrace in there. But it is to Bridge Dancer we will turn our attention who was so comfortable in scoring her second Tampa Bay Downs success recently, that she has to be supported.
