Race Details

This is on the dirt at Will Rogers Down and there is a field of ten lined up for the contest. It is a Claiming race over an extended 5f trip.

Race Favourite

Patriot is the market leader at 9/4* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). He struck a recent win at Sam Houston at the 5f distance in late January.

He struggled to follow that up however with a sixth-place finish at the same venue. It’s been two wins from six starts, but looks as if he needs to find more.

Claims

Seahawk Wave won a Claiming race at Santa Anita back at the end of last year. In his last run he couldn’t get up to speed at all, finishing at the back of the pack at Sam Houston.

The strong form that he was carrying from about September through to the end of the year shows what he can do. Seeking a real return to form and this is easy company.

Not Today Alfie has struggled on his couple of starts this year. He took a low-finish at Delta Downs in early February before finishing at the back of the pack at Oaklawn. He has scored twice before from fifteen starts.

Phat And Fast has at least been delivering some fairly consistent form and has to come into the picture for this one. He was third on his last run, which was at Fair Grounds at the end of February. That’s two-second places from four runs in 2020, and one third. Has every chance of scoring in this one.

E/W Pick

Rapid Impulse at 10/1 looks solid* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). He just recently missed out on a hat-trick as well when he finished third at Remington Park.

Before that he had broken his Maiden here at Will Rogers before backing that up with a score at Remington Park. He’s running hot and can’t be dismissed.

Tip

We are a little torn over this one. Rapid Impulse looks to be progressing very well and we can see him getting in the picture. Because of the odds on him, we have to just lean on him as our pick for this early action from Will Rogers Downs. It’s a narrow decision over Phat And Fast, however.

Race Details

This is a Claiming race for Monday’s racing betting on the dirt. There are 9 entries for the fixture which is over an extended 5f trip.

Race Favourite

Gambler heads up the betting market at 11/8* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). He is a previous distance winner and is the highest rated runner in the field.

He heads to Will Rogers Down on the back of a win, which he scored at Fair Grounds just back on March 20th. That was a career-best effort from him and he really looked progressive there. Has a big chance to double up.

Claims

Jazz Music has to be considered for the action as well. He improved to take a second place finish at Sam Houston earlier this month in a race which he had been favourite. He wouldn’t be winning out of turn in this one at all.

The youngster broke his maiden back at Arlington in August last year. Looking for his first score since then but is competitive at 7/2* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020)

Cat’s American Pie had his last run at Will Rogers earlier this month. He claimed third place in the contest. Scratch off a misfire in a Waiver Claiming at Oaklawn in January, then Cat’s American Pie has produced some really consistent form. Broke his maiden at Remignintg Park four races ago. Looks to be back on track.

We would happily look at Broadway Jones for some big claims in this race. He just broke his maiden three races ago. On his two trips this year he took a second and then a fourth at Fair Grounds. Looks to be heading in the right direction and has tremendous place claims at the very least in this kind of company.

E/W Pick

Euroeast does bring some form to the table, having not been outside of the top three in his last five runs. He is lacking a score in that sequence however, but he hasn’t looked too far away from one. He has been working hard and a return straight back to Will Rogers is likely to suit his chances of getting that second career win under his belt.

Tip

We can’t quite find enough to oppose Gambler in this Will Rogers Downs betting market. Having recently scored on his last outing, he is in good stead with proven form. There should be more to come from him. Euroeast looks like a cracking outsider option however.

Race Details

This is a 5f claiming race at Will Rogers Downs on the dirt. There are 10 entered for the contest.

Race Favourite

Quicksilver is the outright favorite at 15/8* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). However, we feel that he can absolutely be taken on. Since a score at Delta Downs in October, he has not followed up since. His last effort was at Oaklawn Park in a Waiver Claiming where he finished eight. He’s hit and miss and worth taking on.

Claims

Spectactical has every chance of getting in the frame for this one. He has taken a second-place finish in three of his last four runs. The most recent of those was at Will Rogers, so may well enjoy a return there. The two career wins that Spectactical has put on the board have both happened at the course. Has to be respected in the race from 8/1* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

Smokin B improved to secure a second-place finish at Sam Houston on his last run. He still hasn’t struck since winning at Santa Anita in the summer of 2019, but it was a positive effort last time out. There will be question marks over whether or not he can advance enough to post a win, but has good place claims based on his last run.

Little Avenger has been a tough puzzle for punters recently. He came good last summer when he broke his maiden in his second start and followed up with a win at Remington. Since then Little Avenger has found the going tough, two third-place finishes being his best efforts in his last five runs. Plenty to find.

E/W Pick

Mickey The Moocher scored on his last outing which was at Will Rogers, which gives him great claims for this one. That really was a massively progressive run and showed a clear return to form from him after some tougher races. But Mickey The Moocher enjoys a trip at Will Rogers where the bulk of his best efforts have come. At 20/1 he is worth each-way consideration* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020)

Tip

Spectactical gets the nod from us in this contest, just because Quicksilver doesn’t convince us enough to pull out the win. There has been some wonderful consistency secured by Speactical recently and it’s enough to send backing towards him.

Race Details

The Claiming race action from Will Rogers Down continues with this one. This is a 6f trip and has ten entered for the contest on the dirt.

Race Favourite

Coranna En Limen goes as the race favourite at 9/4* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

He missed out on a hattrick last time out as he took fourth at Oaklawn in a Waiver Claiming. Still, he had been running hot before that and there’s no reason to abandon him from missing the three-timer. With two wins in four runs this year, looks to be the one to beat.

Claims

Handsome Traveler looks as if he is going to be a threat in this race from 3/1* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). There is the form there as he has taken a 1-2-3 in his last three runs which were at all Sam Houston. Has really come into his own with consistency and one win in 2020 runs leaves him in good standings.

Nacogdoches continued some solid progress as he scored a second place at Sam Houston on his last run earlier this month. That was a good effort and while he looks as if he is going to need to find a little more, connections will be confident that he’s not far from scoring for the first time this year. His last win was in mid-November at Remington.

There is serious consideration warranted for Aw Ite from a 6/1 mark* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). He heads to Will Rogers Down after an excellent score at Fair Grounds earlier this month. That is two scores in his eight starts so far in his career. He has looked good enough so far in 2020 to push for a place at least.

Knox Court will have place claims as well. He’s a good consistent runner but he has been lacking that little winning edge. He was fifth on his last run which was at Sunland Park and is looking for his first win since scoring at that venue back in March last year. So it’s been a long absence from the winner’s circle, but can push for a money finish.

E/W Pick

Honor Deputy is easily the pick of the each-way claims here from 20/1* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). He scored on his last trip which was at Sam Houston in early February.

He has been off the track since then. But he was progressing well towards that deserved success, his first since breaking his maiden last summer.

Tip

It is a Handsome Traveller for us in this race. He has been very competitive in his last three runs and looks as if he can bring the head again. There’s no reason to think that he won’t be far away from scoring again for this year. He will have his hands full with Coranna En Lumen, but could land a blow against the favourite.

Race Details

The final action of the day from Will Rogers Downs is this 1m Claiming Race on the dirt. There are 10 entered for the contest.

Race Favourite

We have Ben’s Magic Stone and Burgameister at the head of the market here at 9/4* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020). What could split them? Ben’s Magic Stone has taken a second place finish in his last two runs, both of which have happened at Will Rogers. He hasn’t won since May of 2018 anywhere.

Burgameister struggled on his last run, finishing at the back of the pack at Sam Houston in mid-March. His last win happened at Canterbury Park in the summer of last year. He has really looked threatening enough to suggest that he’s going to snap his winless streak anytime soon. So Ben’s Magic Stone looks the better option.

Claims

Far Out Kailee’s last run was at Will Rogers earlier this month when he put in a solid run to claim fifth. Never really looked like taking the score in the fixture. This time last year he was right at the peak of his form securing a hattrick. Needs a big step forward to rediscover that kind of form.

There was a third place finish at Delta Downs by Fusaichi Flame. That was his best effort for some time. It’s been a six race streak without a win so far. But that third place in a Claiming race was the best effort posted since his last win which was in August last year. Potential for more to come and build on that.

E/W Pick

He hasn’t been near the peak that he was at in 2018, but there have been consistent performances nailed by Slewa Red recently, including some at Will Rogers. He has not been outside the top four in his last three runs at the venue.

His last outing was at Fair Meadows last summer, so will return after a long absence after a second-place there and he goes as the 20/1 each-way pick* (betting odds taken from betfair at 20:44 GMT on Sunday, 28th March 2020).

Tip

There is a tough field to choose from her in picking out a winner. We have to roll with Ben’s Magic Stone at the head of the market for this one. He has produced some good runs recently and could have enough to step up and score. This is not the most competitive of company to deliver a win in.
