Ireland v Scotland Six Nations Rugby Odds & Predictions – 10th March 2018

Ireland to survive trial at home by fired-up Scots

Rugby Betting

Ireland’s title hopes were given a huge boost last weekend as reigning champions England suffered a defeat against Scotland. The Irish have won all three of their matches so far, collecting a couple of bonus points along the way and will be happy enough to be facing a resurgent Scottish outfit in Dublin instead of out on the road at Murrayfield.

After a tight opening win away in France to the Championships and then an easy home win over Italy, the Irish were involved in a great contest with a battling Wales side at the Aviva Stadium, Jacob Stockdale easing late nerves with a last minute converted try as Wales had pulled themselves to within just three points of the Irish four minutes prior. Stockdale is the Championship top scorer this season with four tries and is the 7/1 favourite at Boylesports in the first try scorer market* (betting odds taken on March 6th, 2018 at 9:45 p.m.)

It was more considerable points that they have given up in this season’s championship though, and they have now conceded seven tries, but they are head and shoulders above everyone else in the Championship in terms of points scored. The Irish have scored thirteen tries of their own in the Championship and a win in this one puts them fully in the driving seat for the title ahead of their clash with England at Twickenham in the final round of matches.

Scotland turned out that shocking performance in Wales to open their championships, but they have roared back into life showing some tremendous quality. They responded with a good home win over the French and then came their big moment as they got their hands on the Calcutta Cup for the first time since 2008, their 25-13 success their biggest Six Nations win over the English. The question now is whether they can land a heavy blow again the Irish away from home, which would leave the Scots in the hunt for the title.

Prediction

This should be a fantastic game. Scotland will have a tremendous fire in their bellies now to go and perform in his one and frankly they have nothing to lose at all. However, the Irish are just so efficient and reliable in these big games, that one home soil they should be able to dig out the win and keep themselves on track for the Six Nations title.
