Italy U21 News and Form – Italians to edge past Poles?

The Italians kicked off their home tournament with an impressive win over Spain. Despite going a goal down after just nine minutes to a Dani Ceballos strike, Azzurrini hit back by scoring three without reply.

Federico Chiesa, who plays his football in Serie A for Fiorentina, was the star of the show, scoring either side of half time to turn the game on its head. Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini made sure of the points with eight minutes to go, netting from the penalty spot to make it 3-1.

Italy may be the tournament favourites, but Luigi Di Biagio’s troops entered the competition in poor form. Before seeing off Spain in Bologna, the Little Blues had won just one of their previous six. Meanwhile, Italy have lost three of their last seven across all competitions.

After a stunning start against the Spaniards, Italy will be looking to book their place in the knockout stages by picking up a comfortable win over Poland in Bologna in midweek.

These two nations met in a friendly fixture back in March 2017, with Italy running out narrow 2-1 winners on the night.

Poland U21 News and Form – Poles to give it a go in Bologna?

Poland have been in very patchy form of late, winning two, losing two and drawing one of their last five. However, over the past couple of years or so, the Poles have been beaten just twice.

Czeslaw Michniewicz’s boys made a very successful start to the championship, as the White and Reds sealed an excellent 3-2 win over Belgium in Reggio Emilia last weekend. Poland battled back from an early setback, scoring three times before the Belgians pulled one back late on. Szymon Zurkowski, Krystian Bielik and Sebastian Szymanski got the goals.

After Sunday’s superb win over Belgium, Poland proved that they could be dark horses in this tournament. Before Wednesday’s crunch match with the hosts, the White Eagles are priced at whopping odds of 50/1 with Betfair to win the Euros.

Italy U21 v Poland U21 Predictions

Italy win: Being on home turf, Italy should have enough to get the job done on Wednesday. However, Azzurrini may not have it all their own way in Bologna. Poland know where the goal is, and I fancy them to get on the scoresheet in this one. Because of that, have a punt on the Italy win and both teams to score at 9/4. I’m also backing the Italians to net first (2/7).
