The Jamaicans won their group. That was after going W1 D2 from their three games which were against Curacao, El Salvador and Honduras. Their win in the group happened in their opener against Honduras before playing out their back to back draws against the other two. They scored four goals in the group stage, three of them coming in their opening game. That moved them through to a quarter-final tie against Panama. So they have been a tough side to beat and this continues some good recent form at the Gold Cup. Jamaica have been runners up in the last two editions.
So for them to continue with strong consistency in getting back to the semis is a very good return. But can they down the favourites? In the quarter-final against Panama, Jamaica claimed a 1-0 win, their goal coming from the penalty spot fifteen minutes from time. Jamaica are now undefeated in their last five games played, winning three of those. Interestingly in that run of games, Jamaica beat the USA 1-0 in a friendly on June 6th. Jamaica have suffered two defeats in their last ten played.

USA News and Form
The USA have once again been the favourites for an edition of the Gold Cup. It was an untroubled group stage campaign from them because they scored 11 unanswered goals from their games against Guyana, Trinidad and Panama. It was all too straight forward from them and it left them with a quarter-final tie against Curacao. Curacao had finished second to Jamaica in the group stage. A first-half goal from Weston McKennie saw the USA get through the tie with a 1-0 success.
The USA are on a four-match winning streak at the moment. In their build, up to the Gold Cup, they had only gone D1 L2 from three games. They have been far from perfect really though as they are W8 D2 L6 since September last year. Their struggle to power their way past Curacao will certainly have given Jamaica a decent dose of belief. America’s top scorer is Gyasia Zardes with a three-goal haul. The Americans are the reigning Champions and they have been to six of the last six-seven finals.
