Jokanovic early odds-on favourite for Forest job

Aitor out, Jokanovic in?

Next Manager Betting & Transfers

Championship side Nottingham Forest have had a managerial shakeup. Aitor Karanka has left the club and so that has sent them on the hunt of a new man to take charge. The Spaniard had only been in the job twelve months. It leaves questions about what has gone wrong because it’s not been that bad of a season for Forest.

Karanka leaves with Forest sitting in seventh place in the Championship, four points off the play-off places. They won their opening league game of the new year too, a big 4-2 win at home over league leaders Leeds. Forest then lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the third round last weekend.

He wasn’t sacked, he asked to get out of his contract. There were rumours that he was on the outs on Boxing Day after blowing a 3-0 lead against Norwich to end up with a 3-3 tie only at home. There have been disappointing results along the way, but Forest could certainly be a lot worse off than they are at the moment.

Nottingham Forest are 2/1 to finish in the top six in the Championship this season* (betting odds was taken from Paddy Power on January 11th, 2019 at 4:32 pm)

But it is looking forward now and it is former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic who is the early 4/6 odds on favourite to get the Forest job* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power on January 11th, 2019 at 4:32 pm). He was sacked by Fulham last November after successfully having gotten the Cottagers up to the top flight through automatic promotion at the end of last season. Jovanovic reportedly denied the chance to go to Stoke recently.

Some of the other early mentions in the market at Paddy Power, although none as strong as Jokanovic, includes Martin O’Neill and Gary Rowett, the latter who was recently given the push by Stoke. David Moyes, as always is in there and Nigel Clough, who steered Burton to their EFL Cup semi-final is a 12/1 option to move to the club where his father, Brian was such an iconic manager* (betting odds taken from Paddy Power on January 11th, 2019 at 4:32 pm).
