Joshua v Fury Betting: So we apparently thought we knew the day when we would get to see the outcome of Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury betting.

The date that has been touted around is August 14th when some history will be made in the ring.

If it stands, all four heavyweight belts will be fought for at the same time. That’s never happened before and it’s a British fighter that will claim them all.

So now being able to tentatively put the date in the calendar for Joshua v Fury betting, we can take a look ahead at what the current boxing betting markets are saying.

A spanner in the works?

Shortly after Tyson Fury was on social media announcing that the fight with Joshua was booked for August, a judge in the US stated that he had to fight Deontay Wilder again first.

They had been under contract for a third fight last year, but it all got messy because of the global health issues.

There are options for Wilder, who can take that fight, which has to happen before September this year, or if the date with Joshua is booked, Wilder could be offered a lump sum to step away.

Wilder who hasn’t fought since his defeat to Fury, could take an option instead to fight the winner of Joshua v Fury.

Who knows? It’s been a long road to get Fury and Joshua together for this epic fight. We think that the promoters find a way to make it happen. Everything is once again, back up in the air.

Where would the Joshua v Fury fight be held?

The fight is due to be hosted in Saudi Arabia. Apparently, it would be held in a specially constructed stadium. That was the set-up when Joshua fought Andy Ruiz there in December 2019.

Why the date? The end of the scheduled Olympics is on August 8th and the fight date is to avoid clashing with that. It wants all the attention that it can get.

Gypsy King the favourite in Joshua v Fury Betting

Let’s just focus on the actual boxing betting. Tyson Fury who holds the WBC title is the current 8/15 favourite in boxing betting* (odds recorded at 06:51 GMT on May 18th, 2021 at Bet365).

He remains undefeated in his career with a W29 D1 record. That draw was against Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title in December 2018.

It was a result that seemed unfair to a lot of people, Fury looking as if he had done enough.

But three fights later, Furry had won the title for the second time in his career, totally dominating Wilder in a much-anticipated rematch.

Wilder had first burst onto the scene with an astounding performance to beat the great Wladimir Klitschko by a unanimous decision in 2015.

In between that and facing Wilder for the first time, Fury had vacated his belt.

Can AJ defy the odds?

The career of Anthony Joshua took a shocking blow when he was defeated for the first time in 2019.

AJ had been defending his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles against Andy Ruiz Jr in New York. Few saw the upset that was coming.

His opponent, with lightning-quick combinations and laser-like focus, unravelled Joshua, who didn’t 100% look ready for the fight. He wasn’t prepared in any way shape or form for what Ruiz threw at home.

Joshua redressed the balance with a convincing victory over Ruiz in a rematch six months later, getting all of his belts back. He has defended them once since then, seeing off veteran Kubrat Pulev in December last year.

It’s that loss against Ruiz, a fight which posed a lot of questions about Joshua’s ability and mentality, which leaves him an underdog for his duel with Fury.

If Fury does fight Wilder for a third time, AJ will probably face mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury v Wilder III? Joshua v Usyk? All that of course, would cast doubt on any future Joshua v Fury bout if either Brit lost.

Early predictions for Joshua v Fury boxing betting

Assuming this can be sorted out and we do see Joshua v Fury betting in play in August, who is the likely winner?

Fury has proven himself against the best in the world. He’s gotten the better of Wladimir Klitschko and has inflicted the only career defeat on the shoulders of Deontay Wilder.

Technically and tactically, he looks the better of the two fighters.

AJ has power and class. He too has beaten Wladimir Klitschko, in an epic duel back in 2017.

He arguably has never been quite as convincing since.

Joshua has taken some heavy blows in fights since then, which perhaps raises questions over his defence.

Anything can happen in the ring on the night of course, but as of now, Fury looks the more likely of the two to win this potential duel.

It’s going to be a hot night in Saudi Arabia in mid-August. The action in the ring is going to be blistering hot.

It’s the big fight that everyone in the division has been waiting for. The first time all four belts are going to be unified (unless there’s a draw of course).

Will it happen?
