Kempton 15:02: Bet365 offer 2/1 racing odds on Buzz – 22nd February 2020

A wide-open contest despite Buzz's market dominance

Horse Racing Betting

This is the Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) from Kempton on Saturday. It’s one of the very interesting class 1 features of the day’s racing. There are nine entrants for this contest which is over a distance of 2m. It is the Nicky Henderson-trained Buzz who has been dominating the market. Will he stay true to form?

Buzz all the rage

Buzz has blasted his way to a fine start in his hurdling career. He opened with a maiden win on January 7th at Taunton and followed it up in early February with a novices hurdle success at Doncaster.

Both were around the 2m distance, so he has the trip in him. His win at Doncaster came by a neck over Glory And Fortune from a positive of 13/8. He is dominating this Kempton market at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 21st, 2020 at 18:18)

Highway One O Two

Highway One O Two brings some form with him to Kempton as well, having won his last two trips. Those were successes at Plumpton and the most recent of which saw him go as the 8/11 favourite over a 2m trip which he subsequently won by 11l.

The five-year-old is very keen and should be in the hunt for at least a place finish on the weekend from 8/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 21st, 2020 at 18:18).

Kid Commando

There was a win at Plumpton in his most recent race for Kid Commando as well. He claimed the success at the 2m distance by 11l over Jack Valentine in what was a maiden hurdle. So that’s under his belt and he has no trouble at this distance or even longer.

The six-year-old should stick in there and scrap and doesn’t have bad appeal at a nice 9/1 poke either* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 21st, 2020 at 18:18). He’s progressing.

West Cork

West Cork comes in with form having won his last two races. He adds another dimension to this competitive field. He is going up against some better company than what he has faced in his back to back class 4 wins at Huntingdon recently. But he has been progressing well having banked top-two finishes in each of his four runs this season.

There has been enough to suggest that he can pull into fame after his success at the Pertemps Network Novices hurdle in late January. He’s 13/2 for this effort* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 21st, 2020 at 18:18)

Bathsheba Bay and Garry Clermont

This is a wide-open race really, especially when you have the somewhat green-behind-the-ears favourite in Buzz. Bathsheba Bay has brought with him back to back wins, having claimed successes at Taunton and Musselburgh this season. The questions will come in higher company, however.

Garry Clermont has picked up three wins this season. He has actually alternated between a win and a third place finish in each of his last five runs. His latest success was a class 4 at Ludlow in a big field of 13 and goes as a 14/1 outsider* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 21st, 2020 at 18:18).

The rest of the runners

Benson refused a couple out on a trip at Sandown earlier this month. That was on his hurdling debut. Calgary Tiger has been out four times and hasn’t managed to place yet. He was sixth in his most recent run which was in the NH flat contest.

Faire Part Sivola has gone on class 3 trips recently. He claimed a win in such a race at Leicester at the end of December. His one run this year saw him take 2nd from 17 at Wincanton in just shy of a 2m trip.

Predictions & Tips

There are some decent claims knocking around here. Whoever comes out on top isn’t going to get an easy run. The likes of Kid Commando and Garry Clermont look to be progressing well and you can throw West Cork into that mix as well.

Buzz is all the buzz right now though but we will take him on as he faces a really stiff field here. It is Highway One O Two that gets the nod after some impressive work recently. Notably, he held his own as favourite at Plumpton last time out.
