Kempton 15:25: Coral offer 15/8 racing odds on Entangling – 16th February 2020

Entangling may have enough to see off a strong field

Horse Racing Betting

Seven runners go in the Kempton 15:25 which is a class 2 handicap. Entangling is the market leader for the 1m 4f trip. But very interestingly, right behind him are three runners who the bookies and punters alike have just not been able to split up. It has the making of being a very competitive race.

Entangling 15/8
Calling The Wind 7/2
All Yours 4/1
Sky Defender 4/1
Deal A Dollar 17/2
Stamford Raffles 9/1

Entangling heads up a strong field

Course and distance winner Entangling is at the head of the betting at 15/8 for this race* (betting odds taken from Coral on February 15th 2020 at 21:42). It was a second-place finish that he managed on his last race.

Sky Defender
4/1

Coral

That was three weeks ago at Lingfield when he was a length back of winner Pirate King. It was back in November 2017 that he landed his course and distance success, one of three wins in his last six outrights.

He is without a win in his last two but it’s been down to some unlucky timing due to traffic mostly and getting held up. He has the power and the pace at this distance, he just needs a clean run. The bookies clearly recognise his massive threat still.

Calling The Wind

Four-year-old Calling The Wind managed to secure a win on his last trip. That was from a mark of 14/1 at Southwell and he has collected a victory form 1m 2f to 1m 4f three times on the all-weather. That recent touch of winning success came after a couple of disappointing runs last year.

This will be his first visit back to Kempton since September 2017. It is a 7/2 price for him, despite looking like he needs to find more currently* (betting odds taken from Coral on February 15th 2020 at 21:42).

All Yours and Sky Defender

There has been no splitting these two up in the market. They have been sitting right there around the 4/1 mark with Calling The Wind* (betting odds taken from Coral on February 15th 2020 at 21:42).

All Yours is a course and distance winner with three victories in his last five runs. His most recent was at Kempton at class 3 at the start of the month. That was after a third-place at course and distance in December.

It was only just back in October last year that he got his C&D success which was part of a three-race winning streak that he was on. He clearly loves a Kempton trip and should be a big contender.

Sky Defender was a beaten favourite last time out. That was a Lingfield run last month over a shorter distance. The notable thing there was that he was slapped with a big weight rise for it after having won at the same track earlier in the month.

He has winning experience up to 1m 2f on Polytrack. He is looking at a little step up in distance here for the first time.

The rest of the runners

Kyllachy Gala was another beaten favourite last time out at Lingfield. He had a 6lb rise after a win at Lingfield in his previous race. The seven-year-old didn’t handle it all that well however and was 6th of 7.

Deal A Dollar is another course and distance winner taking to start for this race. He is the highest-rated horse in the field and on his last trip was a third-place finisher at Wolverhampton. He has been taking on longer distances, but his two career wins have happened at distance.

Stamford Raffles was a 25/1 shot Newcastle at 1m 4f last month on his latest run. He was only beaten out by a neck in that fixture as well. He has four wins at 1m 4f to 2m on the all-weather. Twelve months ago he did land a win at Kempton over 2m.

Predictions & Tips

This could be a brilliant race which some really big claims from a lot of the entrants. Entangling is the one to beat however and only him having been stuck at the back early on in his last couple of races has denied him.

If he gets a clear run, he has the pace to hold off the rest of this field. All Yours looks a very good option but is at a longer trip for the first time while Calling The Wind needs a bit of improvement.

So the other pick for the race will be the youngster Sky Defender who was a beaten favourite last time out but looks to be shaping up very, very well.
