Swiss Cheer narrow favourite for Kempton trip

There was a third-place finish for Swiss Cheer on his last trip. He only missed by a head in the race at Chelmsford over a 1m trip last month. He was notably, trying to deal with an 8lb rise.

That was because that followed up on his success at Chelmsford, which was on a 1m trip at class 5. His last couple of runs have shown some decent progression from him.

So he clearly warrants some respect here, but this is a massively competitive field for the 3/1 favourite to handle* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 25th, 2020 at 17:41).

The challenging trio

In the fixture there is Family Fortunes, Agent of Fortune and Sherpa Trail who were all at the 4/1 mark on Tuesday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 25th, 2020 at 17:41).

There has been back to back third-place finishes for the six-year-old, which is a course and distance winner.

It has two course and distance successes that he has delivered, the first of which was in November 2018 and then in February 2019 at class 5 and class 4 respectively.

That’s four wins in his career so far but it has been a while since getting one.

Agent of Fortune has been carrying far more current form. She has three wins in her last four runs. She missed out on the chance for four straight victories with a third-place finish at Lingfield over a 1m 2f trip. This will be her first run at class 4 since 2017.

Sherpa Trail is an exciting entrant in this race. The four-year-old has won both of his outings. Those were both 7f 36y wins at Wolverhampton, the most recent of which was at the end of January. This will be his first handicap run, so is he capable of stepping up?

Atletico knocking on the door

Atletico has had a good 2020 with two-second place finishes and a third. That third-place finish was in his most recent trip, a 7f trip in a field of ten at Kempton. So he could shape up for a decent return at class 4.

The consistency has certainly been there on trips between 7f and 1m 1f. Atletico is a 7/1 quote for Wednesday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 25th, 2020 at 17:41).

Silverturnstogold could put it together

Silverturnstogold has put together some good form this season. He was on a four-race winning streak, all at Southwell concluding with a 1m 13y trip at class four on January 12th.

He has been back out since then and missed out on five in a row with a third of eight at Southwell as the favourite.

That winning form that he has carried, however, in large, does make him a threat, especially with him having sealed a course and distance success as well.

At the 10/1 quote he has some good appeal* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on February 25th, 2020 at 17:41).

Other notable candidates

Fortune and Glory is a previous course and distance and in total has won five races from 7f to 1m. He didn’t go well on his last trip, finishing second from last at Lingfield.

Sea Fox is a distance winner but hasn’t shown much recent form. His last trip was at course and distance just earlier this month and he was fifth of eight at 16/1.

Predictions & Tips

What a great race this looks like. Sherpa Trail is the exciting chancer in this one without question on what is his handicap debut. But he has shown a tremendous amount of promise.

It is course and distance winner Agent Of Fortune that checks the boxes, even though she is taking on an extra 5lb here.

The winning form has clearly been there and the Gary Moore-trained charge continued her positive swing at Lingfield on the weekend. She can get close.
