Can Candelisa win again?
There was a victory for Candelisa on his last run. That was, quite notably, a course and distance win just in January. He claimed a one-length victory over Divine Messenger in the contest.
The seven-year-old has now won four times from 6f to 1m. His win last month was at 6/1 and that has clearly been recognised. He does get a 4lb rise for this rematch. Considering that he did look fairly comfortable in that success, it suggests that he may be able to handle that and is the 2/1 joint-favourite .
Can Divine Messenger topple his rival?
Divine Messenger didn’t have enough to get the better of Candelisa last month. He ran a good second though from a 14/1 mark. He is a previous course and distance winner and is clearly one of the strongest charges heading to the start of this race.
His course and distance success happened at class five in January 2019. His other win during the calendar year happened at Lingfield at the same class. Divine Messenger lines up as the joint 2/1 favourite
Can course and distance winner Delicate Kiss get in the picture?
Mare Delicate Kiss is another course and distance winner lining up in this exciting contest. She was a winner on her last right as well, claiming a victory by a neck at course and distance in early February.
That was in a class 4 contest. Back in that January fixture at Kempton which was won by Candelia, Delicate Kiss put in a poor run, finishing 9th of 14 but is a 6/1 option for this .
Can Lethal Missile find his range?
Earlier this month Lethal Missile was out over course and distance. The trip didn’t go too well for him, however, as he came home 12th of 14 in the trip.
He was six lengths back of winner Candelisa in the race from a mark of 11/2. He has won twice before at the distance. Those were successes at Windsor in April and May of last year.
The rest of the runners
Harbour Breeze makes a return to action for the first time since a trip at Doncaster in July of last year. He was a sixth-place finisher in that contest. He has won on the all-weather before, but not as short of a distance as a 1m trip.
Intrepidly has had a stable change since finishing 10th of 16 at 20/1 at Thirsk last May. Itsakindamagic has had some big struggles with form. He was second from last on his last trip which was in October at Windsor last year. He did win a class 4 at Chelmsford in April last year.
Sea Fox is a winner of six races from 6f to 1m 1f. Three of those successes have come on the all-weather as well. He was a distant last of six on his most recent trip, however, which was just last month at Southwell.
Predictions & Tips
There are some familiar foes lining up in this one. Candelisa looks to be the one to beat in the fixture again. Has already taken down Divine Messenger at course and distance and looked comfortable enough in that win to suggest that he can handle a small weight rise.
Divine Messenger does look the best option to come home in second place again, while previous course and distance winner Delicate Kiss can get in the frame for a place finish as well.
