Picks and tips for Kempton Saturday

Horse Racing Betting

There is a good day of race action from Kempton, including the big features of the 14:05 Silviniaco Conti Chase and the 14:40 Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle.

Here are the horse racing tips & winner odds for Saturday’s Kempton card.

Kempton 12:20 Betting Odds – Winner

Class 4, 2m Juvenile Hurdle

Fraser Island had an easy win at Newbury in his last race and lines up as the even money favourite for the opening race at Newbury on Saturday*. That win for him came by a massive 11 lengths over Sir Canford who goes against him again in this one. It may be too soon to see the tables turned there. Lord Lamington put in a good effort for second at Grade 2 at Doncaster in December and could push the favorite closest at 9/4*.

Kempton 12:55 Betting Odds – Winner

Class 3, 3m Novice’s Hurdle

A three horse field. Not much to go on here and it is Saint Xavier who is the overwhelming 2/5 favourite for the fixture ahead of Delight of Dubai (11/4) and Bourbon Borderline (9/1)*. It looks like a foregone conclusion.

However, Saint Xavier hasn’t won in eight previous attempts at hurdles now. Delight of Dubai has won her last two outings for trainer Noel Williams and may be able to cause a little upset here.

Kempton 13:30 Betting Odds – Winner

Class 2, 2m 4f Handicap Chase

There has been strong favouritism going to Sammy Bill at 11/8*. With back to back wins, including a victory at Kempton this season, it’s hard to ignore him. Cap St Vincent is 11lb lighter after a fourth place at Aintree in December.

That could pull him to the picture as a 10/1 shot*. Mercian Prince is a Kempton favourite and was a beaten favourite at Catterick in December. Goes with a visor for the first time and has won this race for the last two years and is not one to gloss over at 6/1.

Kempton 14:05 Betting Odds – Winner

(Grade 2) Class 1, 2m 4f Chase

The Silvinviaco Conti chase (see full preview here), is missing Altior. That’s a sad thing, but the action goes on and it’s expected to be Top Notch v Frodon and nothing else. Breaking them down, because Frodon hasn’t been delivering in recent action, Top Notch, who barely ever steps out of line can deliver as the 11/10 favourite*.

Kempton 14:40 Betting Odds – Winner

(Listed) Class 1, 2m 5f Handicap Hurdle

See the full preview for the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle here. There’s a great field out for this one and the favourite is Notre Pari who has shown a bit of stature in his last two outings. He goes as the 11/4 favourite, but has been penalised 8lbs for Saturday*.

The focus goes towards Burrows Edge who was beaten favourite on his chase debut last December. But his form was coming along nicely before that and may be more comfortable back over the hurdles. Burrows Edge goes at 6/1*

Kempton 15:15 Betting Odds – Winner

Class 2, 3m Handicap Chase

On the Blind Side is the 9/4 favourite for the 3:15 and he is a course and distance winner*. There are close challengers in the field from the likes of Touch Kick and Walt but On The Blind Side is getting there with form.

He was second at Ascot in December in his last run. However, Touch Kick gets the nod here because the conditions are good for him and he took a recent win at Fakenham, where it’s been awhile since On The Blind Side delivered. There’s plenty in the 9/2 on Touch Kick to like*.

Kempton 15:45 Betting Odds – Winner

Class 3, 2m Handicap Hurdle

Never Adapt is the 13/8 favourite for the final race of the day at Kempton with Barry Geraghty getting the ride*. She was third last time out at Cheltenham in December as a 5/1 joint favourite. She has yet to look the most focused of runners, but has massive potential. Golden Taipan is well worth a look after three wins this season.

This will be his handicap debut. The other to consider in the field would have to be Ecu De La Boverie who was beaten into fifth at Cheltenham in that same race where Never Adapt took third. The French runner may find the flatter quick track at Kempton more suitable and is at the 5/1 mark along with Golden Taipan*.
