Kempton Monday 15:05: William Hill offer 2/1 racing odds on Toro Dorado – 9th March 2020

Lightly-raced Furqaan may show well at Kempton

Horse Racing Betting

The 15:05 from Kempton on Monday is a class 5 handicap. There are seven entered for the contest which is a quick 1m trip. There could be a fascinating match up in the fixture as well with nothing too much splitting Toro Dorado and Mastawaa at the head of the market.

Mostawaa 9/4
Furqaan 7/2
Takeonfortheteam 6/1

Toro Dorado

Just about lining up as favourite for this one is Toro Dorado. He was fifth on his last run which was from 13/2 at Lingfield last month. That was at a couple of furlongs longer than this one.

Prior to that Toro Dorado had won three races in a row and has tallied up four wins from 1m to 1m 1f on the all-weather. Even though he was 5th of 11 in his last run, Toro Dorado was only half a length out of it.

So having only just came up short on his four-timer, there’s every indication that he may return to winning ways quickly and he is the 2/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:42 GMT on Sunday, March 8th 2020)

Mostawaa

Mostawaa takes a drop back in grade, his last three runs all being a class 4. He went winless in five races in 2019 without even getting in the places. His only trip in 2020 happened in late February when he was with 5th of 7 at Linfield.

Along with being eased back in grade he drops a couple of furlongs as well to what he has been competing at recently. Mostawaa is a 9/4 option for Kempton on Monday* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:42 GMT on Sunday, March 8th 2020)

Furqaan

Furqaan was quite impressive on her last run. She took second place over a 7f trip here at Kempton last month in what was her handicap debut. It was a nice trip for her actually and there was enough there to suggest that she can handle the extra furlong.

Even though she was beaten by five lengths by Hieronymus, she was facing an impressive runner there and could knock on the door of her first success in this race and has nice claims and value at 7/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:42 GMT on Sunday, March 8th 2020).

Golden Wolf

There was a fourth-place finish from 9/1 for Golden Wolf on his last run. That was at the 1m trip at Southwell in February. Has the weights on his side without question and that may be able to pull him in close. He has won up at 1m 2f but that was a couple of years ago. That run at Southwell was his first back after wind surgery.

Rest of the runners

Clipsham Tiger has claimed three wins at the 1m distance on all-weather. He didn’t have a good run at Chelmsford on his last trip which was in December last year. Before that he did hit some rich form with three straight wins and a fourth, but those were at a lower grade.

Takeonefortheteam is a course and distance winner. That happened back in October last year at class 6. He has been fairly consistent to be fair, aside from a total misfire at Wolverhampton in early December. He was fourth at Chelmsford from 12 on a 1m trip in February.

Rank outsider for this one is Itsakindamagic who was 12th of 14 on his last run. That was at course and distance so doesn’t bring claims with him at all here, despite being highly rated. It has been a while since he made any kind of impression anywhere.

Predictions & Tips

Plenty to dig around in this one. Toro Dorado who only just missed out on a four-timer naturally brings a lot of appeal with him at the moment. It was a narrow miss and he should get pretty close to restoring order.

The other that we fancy is worth a look is Furqaan who has only been lightly raced. But there was a good showing her on her last run and may well be competitive enough to get herself in the places.
