Pistol Whipped

Six-year-old Pistol Whipped has been in decent form. He collected a strong success at Leicester in December. He fell on his next run back at course and distance at the end of January.

Pistol Whipped took a run at Kempton in late February and seemed to be continuing his progression. He secured a fifth place after touching on second at one point.

Likely to be in a strong spot for the win at 5/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:27 GMT on Friday, 13th March 2020)

Sensulano
12/1

Legal Eyes

Legal Eyes was being well supported for the win on Friday evening, being cut into joint favouritism alongside Pistol Whipped. He won his debut chase at Plumpton in October. Then after pulling up in a Sandown effort in December, returned to action at Kempton in January.

Legal Eyes produced a win in a 3-mile trip and looked sharp after not really getting himself settled in that previous Sandown trip.

He is shaping up as if he may prefer the longer trips but is likely to be in contention here at the 5/1 mark* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:27 GMT on Friday, 13th March 2020). He took second at the Kim Muir at Cheltenham on Thursday.

Sensulano

The Noel Williams-trained Sensulano has been mixing it up with fences and chase action. Her last run was at Ascot in the bet365 Mares’ Hurdle in January. She claimed second place in that one at a longer-than-usual trip.

Sensulano has won her last two chase efforts which were between 2m 4f and 2m 5f at Fontwell and Warwick and is very nicely priced at 12/11* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:27 GMT on Friday, 13th March 2020).

Almazar Garde

Because of some good wins at Catterick and Ludlow within the last three months, Malzahar Garde has a chance in this one. He is comfortable around the distance and the five year old is progressing well.

Seems to be taking to the chase action very well even though his jumping looks as if it needs tightening up. That will come with experience and he is at 12/1 for the win* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:27 GMT on Friday, 13th March 2020)

Drumconor Lad

Drumconor Lad hit some great form at Ayr in early March with a victory in a chase at an extended 2m. That followed up a win at Leopardstown in December and at a stone heavier as well. So he has been putting things together well since, has the 10-year-old.

He still may need to find a little more than on his last couple of trips but has every chance of a place contention at 10/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:27 GMT on Friday, 13th March 2020)

Worthy mentions

Mercy Mercy Me had a really poor run last time out at Cheltenham. But if you look beyond that, as something was just off on the day, then he was on a good, strong upward trajectory. If he puts his game together he should enjoy Kempton and is a distance winner.

Good Man Pat generally goes well at course and distance and may have placer claims for the fixture based on that. Generous Day picked up a success over course and distance in December as well, but has been poor since.

Predictions & Tips

There are some good options in this one and it’s a really competitive field. There are good claims from a lot of players in this one. So much so that the joint-favoritism on Legal Eyes and Pistol Whipped is unappealing.

Sensulano is going to be one of the picks that we roll with in this one. There has been plenty of improvement from the mare and she’s versatile enough to get in the mix.

Worth and outside look is Mercy Mercy Me who had shown enough prior to a nightmare trip at Cheltenham to get things back together.
