Chares can make an impact at Kempton

Horse Racing Betting

Five have been entered for this Kempton evening race on Wednesday. This Conditions Stakes is over a 1m distance in class 2. It has been Berlin Tango who has strengthened odds-on at the head of the market. But there was increasing support coming in on Tuesday evening for Chares.

Berlin Tango

Berlin Tango is the current 10/11 odds-on favourite for success on Wednesday evening* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 3rd March 2020). He has won at 7f before. His last run was at Doncaster at that distance back in September last year where he finished third of five.

The one win that Berlin Tango has picked up in his career was at Ffos Las back in July last year. It has been back to back third-place victories since then for him. Will the little extra in the distance for this fixture suit him?

Chares

Chares is the only previous distance winner in the line-up and he has form. He has won all of his outings, all three of them between distances of 6f and 1m.

The last run that he had was in September last year. That was at Lyon-Parilly. There has been a change of stabile for him since then, and he is now aligned with Jane Chapple-Hyam.

Chares is the highest-rated runner in the field as well to add to his very interesting claims. He is the 9/4 second favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 3rd March 2020).

New World Tapestry

The New World Tapestry was last seen in November last year on a 1m trip in November. He has won once at 7f and that came in September 2019 with a run at Newmarket.

His last run was up at class 1 in November. He was 8th of 11 in that one. That was in the Futurity Trophy Stakes so his connections obviously thought there was enough about him to try there.

Interestingly the one win that he took was with jockey Ryan Moore, who will be back in the saddle to partner up on Wednesday. New World Tapestry is at 3/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 3rd March 2020).

Naval Commander and Ayr Harbour

It is just the one run under Rules that Naval Commander has had so far. When he made his racecourse debut last month at Southwell, he finished second of 8 from a 9/1 quote. He may need to find more but is certainly an interesting entrant.

Ayr Harbour brings some interesting claims to the table as well. He has won his last two races, at Newcastle and then Lingfield. Those were in class 3 and class 5 respectively. Those were successes on the all-weather as well and he goes as a 10/1 option* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 3rd March 2020).

Predictions & Tips

This actually looks like a very good race. Berlin Tango had a decent enough run on his last outing, despite taking second place at Doncaster. But there is a little more appeal in Cares.

Cares has some very good claims here including a distance win, while he has been picked up by a new stable, given his rating and race conditions, then he stacks up the appeal.
