King Edward VII Stakes History
This Group 2 race over 1m4f is usually held two weeks after the Epsom Derby and often features colts who ran in that race and are seeking compensation.
That criteria doesn’t apply this year, of course. First run in 1834, Royal Ascot’s ‘Derby’ will have a very different look about it this season and the small field reflects the current uncertainty.

King Edward VII Stakes Predictions
MOGUL is a full brother to three middle-distance winners including Japan, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes last year.
Aidan O’Brien’s colt won a Group 2 over 1m as a two-year-old who should come into his own over longer distances this season.
Though only a best 5/6 with Unibet on his reappearance, the son of Galileo may well prove a cut above his rivals and looks one of the meeting’s bankers.
Some bookmakers are offering odds on a Top Two Finish and Sound Of Cannons could be overpriced in the outright betting at 33/1 with Coral given he is bred to stay and had plenty of excuses in the recent Lingfield Derby Trial.
Brian Meehan’s runner was running with the choke out and hampered on the run out of the back straight so there is a good chance he is a lot better than that result suggests.
Mohican Heights was 2-2 last year and could be anything.
He is a best 9/2 with 888sport but David Simcock’s string has yet to strike form, though the step up in distance is sure to benefit the Australia colt who is related to a host of winners.
Arthur’s Kingdom was runner-up in a Group 1 race at Saint-Cloud in October so can’t be ignored but is the second string on paper of his stable’s two runners and also in the betting (11/2 with Bet365)
