League One Tips -Weekend of October 13th, 2018

With the top clubs in the country getting a rest from league action because of the international break, some of the betting focus on the weekend will fall down onto League One. We take a look at some of the best League One predictions and tips for this weekend’s action from the third tier.

Table of Contents

Scunthorpe v Peterborough Prediction

The Posh are the top scorers in League One this season and they have dropped just the two points in six road games. It doesn’t sound like they are a side worth opposing then as they head to Glanford Park to take on Scunthorpe this weekend. However, we think there is a big value at 6/4 on backing the Iron on home soil* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm).

Peterborough have only one win in their last five games, while Scunthorpe have won their last two at home. The Iron have scored at least two goals in three of their last four home matches and while defensively they aren’t the greatest, neither are the visitors.

Wimbledon v Portsmouth Prediction

League leaders Pompey make the trip to Wimbledon this weekend. Portsmouth needs a bounce-back performance after being stunned in a 2-0 home loss against Gillingham last weekend, who are level on points with this weekend’s opponents Wimbledon right above the drop zone.

That is a result which may deter punters a bit, but Pompey look value here regardless. They have won their last three road games in the league and their last two at Wimbledon. They can respond at great 6/5 odds for three points* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm).

Rochdale v Doncaster Prediction

There’s a northern battle going down at Spotland this weekend as Lancashire side Rochdale welcome Yorkshire’s Doncaster. There should be an interesting tussle here too with Rochdale having the worst defence in the division. They have shipped 25 goals in 12 games and the Dale have lost four of their six home games this season. So we can see some value in Doncaster collecting a win out on the road even though they lost their last road game at Accrington.

But before that loss at Stanley, Donny took a good way win at Walsall in mid-September and followed that up with a success out at Plymouth in their next away game. They look the likelier of the two to get points and are great 17/10 odds to nab them* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm).

Burton v Bristol Rovers Prediction

This is a big game for both of these who have been having their respective struggles. Burton are just the one point ahead of Rovers, with the Bristolians sitting in the relegation zone, fourth from bottom. A win for either will seriously damage the other in this game. This is just the seventh game between them, Rovers holding a 3-2 head to head lead with the one draw.

The Pirates hold a W1 D3 L2 record away from home this season, drawing their last two 0-0. They are facing a Brewers side who have collected just the one point from their last three games but have lost just one of their last five at home. We can back Rovers at a +0.5 Asian Handicap easily* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm).
