League One Tips & Odds – 27th October 2018

Portsmouth managed to hold on to top spot in the league over the last week with four points picked up from two games. But the teams immediately behind them, namely Peterborough and Sunderland kept up the pressure with good wins. At the other end of the table, things got even worse for Wimbledon and Bradford. Here are our top League One predictions and tips for October 27th, 2018.

Gillingham v Bradford

Gillingham have won one of their last dozen league games which surprisingly was a victory at current leaders Portsmouth at the start of the month. They are on a three-match losing streak at home and just one of their last five games have been on home soil. As a positive Gillingham have scored at least two goals in four of their last six games. The visiting Bantams are really hurting now as they are on a four-match losing streak at the moment. Earlier this season they suffered through a five-match losing streak which could be matched on the weekend. Bradford are bottom of the pile with a W1 L5 record in their last six road games. They have scored in all but one of their last four games but still, we feel the 21/2o odds-against price on the Gills at Priestfield appeals* (betting odds taken on October 25th, 2018 at 6:33 pm)

Scunthorpe v Plymouth

Slumps in form can really suck the life out of a team. That is where the Iron are at right now with a four-match losing streak at the moment. They have conceded a total of nine goals in those four games as well. The Iron are W2 D3 L2 at home so far this season. On the two occasions they failed to get a home goal on the board, they lost. So can they snap out of this funk at Glanford Park on the weekend? Plymouth are stuck down in the bottom two with the Pilgrims yet to get an away win this season (D2 L5). Their tally of away goals in just three. It is hard to see the Irons getting a better chance to snap their losing streak than this. Home win at even money* (betting odds taken on October 25th, 2018 at 6:33 pm).

Coventry v Doncaster

The Sky Blues have soared into some recent form with four straight wins under their belt. That’s been a strong return and they are W2 D2 L1 in their last five at the Ricoh where they entertain Doncaster this weekend. We aren’t going to expect fireworks these as Coventry have only the five home goals so far this season. There has been a grand total of ten goals in the seven league games at the Ricoh this season. Just 14% of Coventry’s home games have made it over 2.5 goals. Doncaster come for a visit after having played out a 3-3 draw with Gillingham and then suffering a 1-0 loss against Sunderland over the last week. That’s a W1 D1 L3 record in their last five. They have won three of their last four on the road though, scoring at least three goals in each of those wins. You can’t win games without goals as the saying goals. The Dons have the scoring power and away form to snatch three points on the weekend. We are siding with Donny at 21/10 odds* (betting odds taken on October 25th, 2018 at 6:33 pm).

Sunderland v Southend

The Black Cats are on the prowl for a promotion push this season and they are on a three-match winning streak at the moment. They are undefeated in their last seven in League One and have a terrific W8 D5 L1 record overall this season. They are undefeated on home soil and should, therefore, be at least trusted to avoid defeated. Southend though are not in bad form at all with five wins in their last seven played (D1 L1), however, there is a clear trend with them. They have lost all six games (home and away) against sides currently in the top eleven, shipping at least two goals in each of those. They have been scoring well away from home recently so we are going with a Sunderland to win & both teams to score at 3/1 odds* (betting odds taken on October 25th, 2018 at 6:33 pm).
