League Two Tips – 23rd October, 2018

While the midweek turns its attention to the action from the UEFA Champions League the battle for survival in the top four tiers of English football continues, along with the chase for promotion up to League One.

Yes, there is a full fixture list from League Two on Tuesday night bringing plenty of betting opportunities. Here are our top League Two prediction and tips for October 23rd, 2018.

MK Dons v Notts County

The Dons are the form team in the division at the moment with four straight wins under their belt. Impressively they have all been with a clean sheet as well. We see streaks like that and we immediately remember the infrequent amount of times that teams put together five-match winning streaks and that goes for any division at any level. So is it a good time to oppose them? Notts County show up just having had a three-match winning streak snapped as they were smashed by Bury on the weekend. They have lost each of their four away games at current top seven sides now this season. We don’t like the odds-on price on the Dons because of their streak and therefore the draw appeals the most at 14/5 odds* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm).

Bury v Newport

This is one of the best-looking games from League Two in midweek. Bury tore apart Notts County on the weekend and have the chance to make further inroads into the top six. They are undefeated in their last five games (W2 D3) so aren’t going to be knocked down easily. This is their first home game against a side currently in the top six but have one win from six games (D1 L4) against sides currently in the top eleven (home and away combined). Newport were unbeaten in five away from home before losing at Crawley on the weekend. They are better than that and we expect a response. Newport Double Chance at 11/10 odds? Yes* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm).

Oldham v Cheltenham

Oldham are without a win in five games now (D3 L2) losing their last two. They had lost just one of their previous ten before those recent back to back losses against Carlisle and Port Vale. Both defeats were at home as well. Oldham have managed to come up with just the one goal in their last four games. The Latics have lost four of their seven home games this term and Cheltenham pay a visit to Boundary Park on Tuesday. Cheltenham are in a mess with no win in six (D3 L3). They avoided defeat in their Gloucestershire derby with Forest green on the weekend though. The Robins are W2 D2 L3 away from home. The odds-on price on the Latics is horrible, so we see value in Cheltenham at 8/2 odds in taking on a side who have shipped exactly three goals in each of their last two home games* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 10:25 pm).

Macclesfield v Northampton

Macclesfield finally saw a bit of light at the end of the tunnel as they won for the first time this season on the weekend. That was a home win over Carlisle. Still, their home form is pretty miserable for the season at W1 D3 L3 (but at least it is nowhere near as shocking as their road form). They are lacking goals badly this season but then Northampton are no great threat with just five road goals in a W1 D2 L4 record this season away from home. This could be a bit of a desperate scrap. The Silkmen have won their last two on home soil against Northampton and we are riding that trend at 2/1 odds* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 10:25 pm).
