Leeds United News and Form – Two wins in two for Bielsa’s boys?

Leeds United got off to a flying start last weekend, cruising to a 3-1 win at Bristol City. United dominated the game, taking the lead thanks to a Pablo Hernandez strike in the 26th minute. Leeds doubled their advantage in the 57th minute, with Patrick Bamford getting on the scoresheet. Jack Harrison made it three before Andreas Weimann pulled one back for the hosts.

Leeds were very good on home soil in the Championship last season, winning 14 times at Elland Road. However, the Whites failed to win any of their last three on their own patch last term, losing to Wigan Athletic and drawing with Aston Villa in the regular season, and losing to Derby County in the play-off semis.

Leeds are certainly the team to beat in the Championship this year. The Whites, who sit top after one game, are now available at 3/1 (Ladbrokes) to win the title. Meanwhile, bet365 are offering just 1/4 for the Yorkshire outfit to finish in the top six.

United will be buoyed by last Sunday’s excellent performance and result in Bristol, which they should follow up with another league win this weekend.

Nottingham Forest News and Form – Another defeat for Lamouchi’s Reds?

Nottingham Forest suffered a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion in Sabri Lamouchi’s first game in charge of the club. The Reds made a stunning start, with Matty Cash giving them the lead after just eight minutes. However, a couple of errors from goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, who was making his Forest debut, gifted the points to Slaven Bilic’s men.

Forest were poor travellers last season, as they sealed just four away victories in the Championship. However, they did draw 11 times on the road, losing the other eight. The Midlands outfit were pretty decent at home, though, with 43 of their 66 points coming at the City Ground.

Last weekend’s loss to West Brom was a rude awakening to English football for Lamouchi. The new boss has plenty of work to do at the City Ground, and they could find it tough going at Elland Road at the weekend.

Leeds United v Nottingham Forest Predictions

Leeds United win: Bielsa’s troops should have no problems seeing off Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Saturday. Leeds won without conceding on 15 occasions in the Championship last season. With that in mind, back the Whites to win this one to nil at 6/4. Patrick Bamford scored ten goals in 25 league and cup appearances for United last term, and the 25-year-old is already off the mark this season. Have a punt on Bamford to score first on Saturday at 10/3.
