Leeds United News and Form – Eighth straight Championship victory for the leaders?

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are the form team of the Championship at the moment. Since losing 2-1 to Millwall at The Den in early October, the Whites have won eight and drawn two of the following ten.

Tuesday’s win over Hull City at Elland Road was their seventh Championship victory in a row. Although Leeds were made to wait until the 73rd minute for the breakthrough, United’s 2-0 victory was comfortable enough in the end. An own goal and a smart finish from Ezgjan Alioski did the damage.

Leeds have been faultless at home since a 1-1 draw with Derby County in September. Bielsa’s troops have claimed consecutive home wins over West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough and Hull City, scoring 12 and conceding just one along the way.

Leeds moved to the top after the results in midweek, as West Brom were held to a 1-1 draw by Wigan Athletic. With the pair level on points, will United still be at the summit at the end of the weekend?

  • United have won six in a row at Elland Road

Cardiff City News and Form – Bluebirds’ winning run against Leeds to come to an end?

Cardiff City were beaten for the first time since Neil Harris arrived in midweek. Despite a late rally, the Bluebirds lost 2-1 to Brentford at Griffin Park, with Marlon Pack pulling one back after the Bees had raced into a two-goal lead.

Prior to that reverse in London, Cardiff had moved up to eighth after three successive wins. City had seen off Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Barnsley.

Cardiff are very solid in the Welsh capital, with only Preston North End accumulating more home points thus far, but they have certainly had their woes on the road. City’s win at the City Ground last month remains their only away victory of the season. A trip to Elland Road will arguably be their toughest test yet.

Leeds United vs Cardiff City Predictions

Leeds United win: Cardiff have definitely been a bogey team for Leeds in recent years. The Bluebirds have won the last three meetings, thumping United 4-1 at Elland Road in the last game back in February 2018.

However, Leeds are a completely different team these days under the management of the excellent Bielsa, and they have hardly put a foot wrong this season. Harris’ Cardiff could be tough opponents for the leaders on Saturday, but Leeds’ qualities should shine through. I’m backing the hosts to be winning at half time and full time at 10/11.

Leeds’ last three wins against the Welsh side have come with clean sheets. Have a punt on the home team to win 2-0 (5/1) on Saturday.
